Good for you! I'm glad you got the right filter. And at a good price, too. I know I paid too much for mine, but I had the pump assembly apart and I didn't want to wait. I wanted it right now. I get like that sometimes.

Just sent my CBLAST flash'd ECU off to Nels to update with the latest ...

I'm sure you'll be impressed. Like Nels told me, Sebastion only flashed about 70% of what should've been done. Still haven't had mine on a dyno. I have my name in at 2 places to get it done when they're caught up.

Hey Mokaw do you know if the 2wheeldynoworks flash makes your radiator fan come on earlier?

Mine comes on at around 200 or so. When I asked him about them coming on so high he gave me an answer that seemed logical but for the life of me I can't remember what he said LOL.

Nels told me so many things over the phone in a short time. I wish I could remember everything he said. I noticed today my fans came on at 196. They used to come on at 201-203. So I would say yes to the flash making them come on earlier.

I e-mailed them and this was the response:

. I checked our files this morning, and the ZX14R is one of the few bikes that we do not modify fan temperatures engagement on.

Most manufacturers set them around 213-218F, and we reduce them to 205. Kawasaki had the foresight to do this from the factory on these bikes!

jdw, sorry I gave you the wrong information. I was riding in slow traffic and when I stopped at a redlight I noticed the fans were running and the temperature showed 196. They must've been running for a while and I didn't notice until I stopped and I could hear them. I suppose they were about ready to turn off at that temperature.

SO I got my ECU back from the reflash. Nels, or his guy, said is had a decent fuel map but the timing map was old and wrong. They update both the fuel and timing maps with the latest for this setup

Drove the bike to work today, didn't notice much in the morning commute traffic but a few thoughts:
1. on-off throttle seems smoother
2. Shifting both up and down "seems" much smoother - don't understand this but the sensation is like I changed oil w/ new Motul 300V - really smooth and easy

That's awesome, rud! I wonder how he did that? create an ignition/fuel cut when the clutch is pulled maybe? I recently read that the mapping changes every time you pull the clutch. No idea if that is true.

Rook,

They did tell me some info that might be part of the cause. They said because of the new ignition mapping they added, the engine braking would be significantly less than with the old pos map CBLAST had pasted in. The downshift blips are noticeably smoother on the bike engine and structure dynamics. My first thought was - WOW that's nice!

...very! I'm not complaining about my Gen1's gearbox but I could imagine it being smoother at high rpm between 2nd and third. It feels perfectly slick with the quickshifter (as long as the shift goes in) so I think the QS ignition cut is what has improved it. Maybe they do something similar by flash.

That sounds like the old TRE 06A Nuetral map lock. Softer decel, stops pops and derestricts partial throttle response. Something similar might be done by flash. Paste the N map to every gear, maybe or borrow heavily from that approach with some timing tweaks.
