No Clutch Basket Gasket??
08/28/23 10:36 AM

When I changed out my clutch plates I noticed that there wasn’t a gasket with the cover. Since I’m the second owner I’m not sure if one was there and it was never replaced prior to me purchasing the bike, so is this normal? There was no leaking prior to me opening it up, but now there’s a very slow leak coming from the lower seam of the outer cover. I’ve torqued the 11 bolts that hold the cover in place twice.

Thanks

If these guys carry the gasket I need (and they do have the 14 clutch)I usually buy a few to
have extras on hand. Usually about half the price as OEM.

Thanks! Weird that it never leaked until after I opened it up.

I found a new gasket locally and just finished putting it on. Hopefully it does the trick! It also has me wondering if it was leaking before but only when riding. This may explain why I have to add a quarter of a quart about every 1500-2000 miles.

I think if it was leaking before you would of noticed. It would be all over the place.

The OEM gasket is paper thin. You might not have even noticed it when you took the cover off.

I was thinking the same thing Rook but I double checked when I installed the new gasket and it was definitely missing. Since I'm the second owner there's a good chance that it was worked on by the original owner and wasn't put back on. I find it amazing that it never leaked until I opened it up to replace the clutch plates with no seal(metal on metal). However, it's been two days since I replaced it and it's holding up as expected.
