01/28/18 8:32 AM

Am currently fabbing an exhaust hanger bracket with the goal of sturdy support, works look and weight reduction...
The stock assembly without the large steel bolt:

Rook!
Where did you get your hanger? Do you remember the weight of that little gem?
I need to pile up both stock hanger/ peg assy's and the muffler bolts for a real weight pic...

I was going to design one out of AL and have it made thru emachineshop.com but the cost for two black anodized brackets was more than I wanted to spend. I bought a pair off ebay for like $30 and cut off the passenger foot pegs and painted flat black and it works for me. I wasn't going for weight savings though.

Badass Crude! Looks high and tight. I am curious what they weigh. The stockers w pegs were astonishingly light considering their size and I am sure super strength. Here are the weight and prelim install pics. Final version will of course involve gold alum Pro Bolt magic. My rush spray bomb job is going bye bye as well- off to my fav discount powdercoater for a satin black treatment.

BTW Crude- that black and red is KILLER! Love your rocket man. The red on the wheels and the calipers is legit! Did you do those touches yourself?

Wow Kofla, looks like link two was the thread to put this stuff on! Hah.
Had no idea there was a carbon fiber mount out there, but stands to reason by now.
The crazy weight saving of the entire 1 can full ti system vs slip ons with stock head pipe has been sweet!
Said goodbye to my belly pan as well. I am coming for those litre bikes on track day... haha.

Iron

I dont have a scale other than my RCBS for reloading. THe red bling was stock on that matt paint on this bike in '14. Some other matt bikes are w/o farkels. THe OTD deal was good and I did like the look so home the BBW went with me.

Rook!
Where did you get your hanger? Do you remember the weight of that little gem?

damn you got me beat again.

2WheelWorks. Discontinued. What you have made yourself looks real good. I'd stick with that. The ironheadmike spaceframe exhaust hanger. $86 and free shipping anywhere in the continental United States.

I need to pile up both stock hanger/ peg assy's and the muffler bolts for a real weight pic...

With all hardware except the LH bolts to the frame. I guess I used those initially to fasten my 2WW hanger.

I have pics of LH with frame bolts 1 lb, 8.6 oz and RH without frame bolts 1 lb, 7.7 oz so the two oem bolts to the frame must weigh 9 oz.

Dont forget to take out the RH midpipe support from the bung in the frame. 4.5 oz with bolt and nut. I have the pic.

Yes the 1.397 kg works out to 3.08 lbs in stock hangers removed! I only weighed the big ass muffler bolts and the left side bracket mount bolts as they wont be coming back. I am surprised your bracket weighs more as it is aluminum. Mine is straight up carbon steel bungs and cold rolled rod both sizes. You mentioned in a thread that Kofla directed me to, something to the effect; the time taken to meke them cant be quantified in $$, or makes no economic sense. I feel the same. I just enjoy making stuff for myself and a fortunate few. Should you want something tricky sometime hit me up. I enjoy fab challenges. I do have a minor delay that is KILLING ME; (cuz I have not started her yet to hear the sweet Brocks sound). My AT200 is of course mounted up near my pcv along the intake and the o2 sensor bung in the Brock's pipe is all the way back at the swing arm pivot. I dont suppose there is a handy extension made with the right connectors to make this real easy for me?
Jeez I hope so.

I might do that if you can weld aluminum. Planning to make an exhaust hanger for the busa similar to the one you made. Yeah, it is fun to make this stuff. Shame it can't be sold for real. Wait til you see my switch panel. The Rook Performance Coffinbox it will be called. Looks just like a coffin nestled between the gauges.

My AT200 is of course mounted up near my pcv along the intake and the o2 sensor bung in the Brock's pipe is all the way back at the swing arm pivot. I dont suppose there is a handy extension made with the right connectors to make this real easy for me?

My AT is mounted below the tach and the sensor is at the collector. I added 9.5" to the wires that connect to the module. Solder away. I checked with Chris Kelly at DJ and he oked it. Digital signal but extra wire won't disrupt cancom. Shrink wrap the solders of course. Dont use acid core solder. Rosin core good. 22 or 24 AWG primary wire. buy white and spray paint if you have a paint collection like me. Test start shows AT to be functioning normally with extra sensor wire. No idea if you can do this with the harness. I thought about it. Probably not. Might disrupt cancom to the ECU.

Either that or buy a longer DJ Cancom Cable and mount the AT module closer to the sensor. I spent $50 with shipping for 3 bloody wires. didn't use any.

Pardon my French but godammit it is good to have someone interested in mods around. It's almost like the old days!

Hope you have some clear unpatrolled road to do your tuning runs! Find as many as you can. You stick to one, the locals will call the cops. You can easily tune to 130 mph. You go higher, you are in GO TO JAIL zone for several seconds. I got a run to 180. I think I will need a LSR course to finish it off. Too risky for me with the crap that has gone down with my driving recently. I could end up with a record for driving stupidly.

You should have gotten Wideband2 for the extra $60. A few more functions, user defined channel for datalogging, worth it! My AT case has been coming apart (unglued) but it works fine. I will probably get WB2 someday.

I do not have aluminum welding capabilities. Keep in mind, my carbon steel piece weighed less than the 2ww aluminum
Hanger. Gaurenteed stronger as well. Ivam looking forward to seeing the Rook Performance Coffinbox...that is going to be the nitrous control center? Man that has to be a rush of power!!! Have you felt it yet? Yeah, I am going to snip and solder in some new wire, thank you for the tech tips in that regard. I dont recall seeing the wideband 2 when I bought my AT200... yes I am sqealing w delight at the whole tuning process ahead. 13.7 here I come- BWAHAHAHAHAHA

dead and gone - laid down around a slow turn I had taken 1000 times, high curb in the median took out the front forks and R cover was ground down a bit. After the insurance offered $7K it was a done deal.

Yes, nitrous and DJ switches. Possibly ignition switch and starter button if I can fit them. I will need to remove the stock key ignition switch to fit some of the switches on the panel. Last few posts here. post 18, current bottom of page, with pics.

I haven't tried the NOS yet. I will need to come up with the Rook Performance Tail Subframe Eliminator Dyn-Tune Bottle Bracket Adapter. BTW, consider getting rid of those subframe rails some day. Over a lb and a half with bolts. Don't know for sure but might cause tail fairing crackage. I believe one of mine was cracking previous to the subframe removal but noe both are cracked. Replaced one. If it cracks again....I'll need to figure something out.

CRUDE! How? Loose gravel? Worn tires? Wet? Lapse in concentration? Man that sux whale balls, glad you are unhurt.
Hey Crude, what is that seat on your machine?

ROOK!! Do you get any notifications from Schnitz racing? They have key switch eliminators on sale right now as well as an oil pump upgrade I might not be able to pass up...
Man a real deal on a good quality steering stabilizer would be right on time as well.
Oh, the Track cf seat deal went south- a bit of confusion from the Saddlemen site. The end result; A tech style seat is on the way.
(As well as a set of Supercorsas in sc1 the rear being 200/55!) Bahahahaha

Iron, I like your style brother and your tire choice. I lost the argument with the front tire, dont really know what happened but its possible as I was to hot running wide toward the median curb I grabbed the F brake ..... sucked but I ended up with a much better new bike. The seat is a Sargent and the pod gives you some needed storage if the GFE is not along. Direct swap with the stock seat. For me the Sargent is much more comfortable than the stock, which I did pull off the dead '06 bitch. Sounds like you are keeping yourself busy in the frozen north. I know Rook and other like the Ohlins stabilizer but I went with the GPR V4. I think it looks good and was an easy bolt on and really sharpens the steering. I felt I need it on the '06 on track days to keep the F from starting to wobble on hard braking and again, it was a direct bolt on to the BBW

CRUDE!-
I dig the pod. That is the cover where the rear cowl would reside right? That seat does look comfy and pulls off being lower than the stocker I believe. How about that Yosh setup? Do you like the sound well enough?
Slip ons?

CUFF!
Nice work man. Dig the speed holes and yeah, that's gotta be a light setup.
Have you weighed it?
