clutch - K guys help me
09/26/15 10:08 AM

So I'm trying to figure out an issue with my Bking. The Suzuki forums have been little help. I was hoping one of the Kawi guys could suggest something. I replaced my cutch, line and just rebuilt the slave and bled the system. The clutch still does not disengage far enough to release when in gear? I'm lost. I took the clutch cover off and could see that the plate move, but not far enough. When I put the new clutch in I couldn't get the pressure plate to mesh with the basket without taking off the slave cylinder. It appeared the rod was sticking out too far to let the pressure plate seat properly. Still is the same. What is causing this? I don't see any alignment marks that would indicate that the pressure plate needs to line up with a certain spot on the basket. So far I've replaced the clutch, clutch line and rebuilt the slave. Anyone?

Join "labusas.org" and go to the bike talk subforum. Post a thread about your clutch and ask for Master Cylinder for help.

He fixes anything on two wheels.

LOOK AT:

1. See how that gear on the clutch basket would not tooth-into the oil pump? We have that meshed?
4 & 11. See how the clutch center (4) would not mesh with the slots on part 11? We have that meshed?
20 & 21. See how both are split so one may collapse, where the other rests into that ball socket? We have a sleeve moved down on the push rod?

FEEL FOR:

You may find the pressure plate moves out, but is the master/slave bled well or has either still have air... so no full throw?

I have found hayabusa.org to be rather quiet lately. Good luck. Wish I knew more about my busa so I could offer some insight. From your description, sounds like the clutch is not releasing letting go of the engine when you pull the lever. So it must be stalling when you click into 1st from N. ....or the starter would chug the bike forward when you pull the lever and crank the starter. ...or if you pull the clutch lever and try to roll the bike, the bike stops rolling when the engine/transmission lock...as though you were not pulling the lever.

One tip I can offer is that the busa master cylinder is pretty tough to bleed compared to the 14's which has a bleeder right on the MC. Doesn't sound like air in the system is the problem though....as long as you feel fluid pressure in the lever and you don't need to pump the lever, there's no air in there that could be causing a lack of pressure. I have a tutorial over there on brake and clutch bleeding. I'm Mythos over there,

Your text to link here...So now I've slapped everything back together and now have a grinding issue when I pull in the lever. From what I can see, the pressure plate sits too far out from the clutch basket. When I pull in the lever the teeth on the pressure plate release to far that they disengage from the basket. When the lever is out, the plate does not sit flat to the basket and does not contact the plates. I can't see that there are any specific marks to line up so the plate sits tight to the clutch pack.[img]

I'm having the same problem as this guy but it my ZX-14 clutch.

I can see it won't hold any pressure at all on the stack. almost like I am missing a plate but hat's not it. The pressure plate is making contact with something (I presume the bolt holes in the hub) but the pressure plate is not even under the fingers in the basket.

I am sure there were 10 fibers and 9 steels that went in--the same ones that came out. They were soaked in oil for a few days prior to installing.

The stack measures 2 an an eighth inch in height same as what I measured before installing. That clutch pack is all there.

spring seat and judder spring were not removed so I'm sure those are in properly.

I have pressed the pusher in a bit farther but the pressure plate does not follow it. The pressure plate is being stopped by something. The clear sign is that the pressure plate is not under the fingers.

Any ideas?

figured it out. all I had to do was lift up a bit under the spring plate and it popped right into place.

Maybe it is possible to tighten the spring bolts down with the plate hung up and then the plates slip out like Bill AZ31 up there. I did push pretty firmly straight in against the plate when it was hung up and it didn't move so if the bolts were torqued like that, might hold in hung up position.

Anyone reading this in the future, just push up under the spring plate until it pops into position under the fingers of the basket. Then put your bolts in.
