CLUTCH LEVER PROBLEMS
10/19/09 1:47 PM

I am having this problem with my clutch not engaging as it once did. What I am talking about is - when I release the lever I've noticed that there is a whole lot of travel on the lever before it finally engages. I am talking about like less then a 1/4 of an inch or so. Is there a way to adjust this distance? But... I thought that someone would have had the same issue or know exactly what the cause is.

No adjustment-only clutch line slave and master bleed. Not sure what you mean 1/4".My clutch lever activates about half way in the pull distance.

A 1/4" or less in the pull or release, before it activates. I have replaced the clutches (steels & fibers), springs, pressure plate and bleed the slave & master cylinder. The only thing left that I can think of is replacing the basket.

Did you have this problem before you did the work?
Did you install the same number of plates in the proper orientation?
Measure the old clutch pack verses the new.
The old clutch pack should be thinner than the new.

If I'm understanding correctly, it sounds like the new clutch pack could be thinner.
When the clutch lever is pulled all the way in there is a large gap in the clutch pack,
only grabbing when the clutch lever is almost fully released.

I really appreciate everyone's help. Today... I made some time to find out what the problem was. So I started with the clutch lever - took it apart and put it back together. After assembling the lever back to the master cylinder I noticed that there was no longer any pressure on the lever and she was fixed. Maybe it was bound up. Who knows! She's rolling with full power, as I had a super past three hours soaring in the wind.
