proud owner
06/26/10 6:09 AM

Hi all, I have been lurking on here for about a year riding my cruiser and trying to learn more about these machines, but I became a proud owner of a silver 08 yesterday. I cant believe how smooth that engine is and those are some serious brakes. Now if only the DMV were open on Saturdays.

Hello to all.
I'm glad to be a part of the zx14 family. I'm a 2 year rider but a 3 week zx14 owner. I went from a 07 zx6 to a 09 zx14. I only ugraded cause of my height. I'm 6'6" tall and was was riding a 600. It looked like i was riding a scooter. So I had to get the big dog. Its like night and day. (The power that is) I allready 500 miles on it in 3 weeks. I'm debating on which pipes I want on it. I'm looking for the cheapest ones. I'm not looking for performace just sound. Rigjt now its between the d&d, m4's, and two brothers. If anybody have any ideas please let me know. Thanks for having me.

Welcome to both of you, this forum has been a HUGE help to me since moving to the 14 last spring.

ZX142009 - Check out my post with pic's here on the KR Tuned slip-on's I have audio samples and pic's etc... I've been riding them for over a month now and are very happy. The fit/finish is excellent, installation fit like a glove, and they sound awesome. I payed $599 for the carbon pipes, but $399 for the stainless is a killer deal in my book.

http://www.zx14ninjaforum.com/messages.cfm?threadid=E5FE10C3-D56B-84E2-12B9C0F1C755908E

You can get a pair of them in stainless for $399 on EXTREME closeout direct from HotBodiesRacing.com (which is the sister outfit to KR Tuned products) and I honestly don't see how you could possibly beat that value.

http://hotbodiesracing.com/en/prod_226_closeout_specials_kr_tuned_exhausts_2006-10_zx14r

Either way again, welcome to the boards, and congrats on the new bikes.

EDIT - I also wanted to mention that the KR pipes are tuned for stock config and run great with no need for a power commander etc... I'm sure it would only improve things but I have no plans of installing one at this time.

This my 4th bike in 15 years non of which had more than 55hp so this beast is a real eye opener! I am learning to respect its power and pay attention to what the speedo says because this thing glides so easy I find myself running alot faster than I thought I was doing. I actually try to go near the speed limit when cruising around town. This is the best bike I have ever owned.
