The 14R got a brother
06/10/23 6:28 AM

I’ve been wanting a H2SX ever since they were introduced and yesterday I finally made it happen. Picked up this 2023 H2SXSE from a friend of mine that owns several Houston area dealerships and got a smoking hot deal on it. So far I’ve only put 35 miles on it so I haven’t been over 4K RPM but it is superb at everything I was looking for in a bike. Cruise control being number 1 for me because my throttle hand always goes numb and it keeps me from committing to going on any type of long distance trip with my buddies. This bike will open up new adventures with that feature alone. It will be getting exhaust, filter, and ECU tuning(when it becomes available).

The more I ride it, the more I’m falling in love. It doesn’t have the torque that the 14 has but it makes plenty for sure.

Thank you sir. I’m actually infatuated with this bike. Every time I swing a leg over it I love it more than the last time.

Yep,the big kawi is a blast. The way it handles high speed cornering and such is VERY nice. The cornering KTRC is really noticeable.Powering out is an experience not to be missed.

Finally passed 250 miles today so I was cleared to go from 65 mph(4,000 rpm) to 95mph(6,000 rpm). Took it out to my favorite stretch of curves and was surprised to find myself going faster and with more confidence in the same curves as the 14R. Could be the tires (Bridgestone Battlax S22) that are factory installed though. They are noticeably softer than the Michelin Road 6’s that I have on the 14R.

So far I’m having one issue with the bike. The rear TPMS isn’t communicating information causing a fault message, but I brought it to the stealership today and they ordered new ones for front and rear. Also the chain slack is 1/2” too tight as delivered. My spanner wrench should be here tomorrow so I can get that dialed in. Also, the Kawasaki spin app is absolutely garbage. This bike needs Apple CarPlay in a bad way.

That's too bad about the app.I've heard nothing good about it.Now...I have the 1st version for the H2SXSE+2020.I have used it successfully on several rides. It is somewhat different in the new models. But mine does work.Oh yeah,it asks me everytime if I want to update.I'm like...nah...I'm good thanks lol.

Now..I've been runnin this through my head for a while. In all and all comfort and smoothness(busyness)I lean towards the zx.IF the zx had any of the electrics of the H2,then it would be a hands down win for the 14.They MAY possibly know by now that many bought the H2 out of curiousity.Plus it 'sounds' badass...'supercharged'.It has it limits though.Maybe you could give a good detailed write up about the suspension.Your real observations(after you've had her for a while).Maybe you could do it ....now....since you know how you feel.

I just think now that if I had had the right shaped seat on my 14(s)I'd still have my 2013.ah well, gotta try new things sometimes.
I like the new 14's,though nothing's really changed.Paintschemes are okay, some.I think if I had one it would remain stock....EVERYTHING STOCK...except...the SEAT!!!First thing I'd deal with after seeing how it felt.I LOVE the seat feel on the Kawasaki14 when it hasn't been modded yet.Wait,I didn't say that right lol.I love the stock seat feel, but once it breaks in,it develops an irritating angle right into the tank.Mine did anyway.Needs a good flattening towards the rear, and a better shaped bowl.Add just a bit to the front right near the tank.

The stock unmodified seat on my 14 has never been a problem for me. What has always been a problem no matter what bike I ride is my throttle hand going numb after 20-30 minutes. It still does it on the H2 but the difference is I now have cruise control. That is the number one reason I bought this bike. I know other bikes have it and for much cheaper, but you can’t flash those bikes and make obscene power so that was my number 2 reason for choosing this one. Otherwise I would have just bought a new Hayabusa and called it good. The 14R however will always be in my garage alongside the H2. Simply because the torque can’t be matched by anything that I’ve ever ridden. Torque=fun. On top of that, me and the 14R have a relationship. We go way back like family and you don’t sell family haha.

Suspension: So far I haven’t played with the electronic settings to get it dialed in. As delivered it’s smooth as butter save for sharp bumps that will rattle the teeth. May start backing off compression to see if it improves without compromising handling. Brakes are phenomenal! Still getting used to the quick shifter because I’ve never had that feature in all my 40 years of riding, but I do love how it works.
