Future zx14r owner
04/17/14 7:23 PM

Would like to say hi to all. I have been lurking around this website for sometime. Finally ready to purchase another motorcycle. My current ride is 03 sv650s w/ 30,000 miles. Before that was a 00 ex500. The sv is fun but I'm ready for some new technology in a bike. Been riding for 12 years now. So after much thought I decided the best next bike for me is the zx14r.
So my question for zx14r owners is,"is this bike for me?". I just want a bike that has power but I can ride comfortably (I'm 6'0 200lbs). Want to ride 2 up with wife and son. But don't want a harley or a true touring bike. I'm still young 38. I don't ride fast, or do track days. Don't ride twisties much anymore. This bike seems perfect. So ready for a modern sport bike.
Have the opportunity and the end of the month to purchase a new bike. Looking only at 2013 models. More so this nice Shiney white one my local dealer has for sale.
So my obsessing continues until the end of the month. Will keep you all posted on what happens.

I'm about the same size as you. I am very comfortable on the bike. This is my everyday everything bike. Tour, cruise, and aggressive riding and what ever else I need it to do, even grocery getter sometimes, my tank bag will hold a lot of shit. Couldn't ask for more from a bike than what this thing can do. I've yet to two up on this bike but from what others say it it can handle that quite well. Quit chomping at the bit and buy that bike ASAP in the morning! You won't regret it!

Cornelius, I wish I could go down today and purchase that nice white zx14r. Can't get that bike out of my head. But unfortunately I have to wait. I'm waiting on a nice large settlement check that will be here soon. Been recovering from 2 surgeries and couldn't ride for over a year. So when I see that money I will busting the dealers door down to get me bike.
On a side note the bike im looking at is a new 2013 zx14r. There asking $12,300. Is that a good price? And what should I pay otd?

Congrats Mrwoo. My wife and I do a 2-up ride almost every summer covering up to 2000 miles on our ZX. It handles 2-up riding very well, still handles the back roads with aplomb. We put bar risers, a saddlebag system and soon, a rear rack for my tail bag and plan to use it for long range camping trips. Let us know when you get yours and be sure to post pictures.

I went from an SV650 to a ZX-10R. I think you'll find that the ZX-14R is surprisingly easy to ride, but also shockingly fast.

You will not be disappointed. :D

I have just bought a 2014 ZX-14R in place of my 2011 MV Agusta F4 for comfort reasons
My only regret?
Well I looked at the ZX before I bought the MV as I was looking for a comfortable bike (from an 09 R1), I thought the ZX was a bit sedate and the allure of the MV got me, so I bought it. 2 years later and only 6000kms on the MV I end up buying a ZX. Turns out, I did not ride the ZX properly the first time and did not really stretch its legs so did not get a good feel for it. My regret is that I did not just buy it in the first place.. At lease I would not have lost close to 10K on the MV.. Not that I regretted owning the MV.

The lesson here, take any bike for a good ride, not just a spin around the block.. The ZX-14 is plenty exciting!

After talking with the wife, this next wed or Thurs I will go and purchase a new zx14r. Hopefully the white zx will still be for sale.
The dealer wants $12,400 for a 2013 with abs. This seems like a great deal. I also want to purchase new gear. What would be a fair OTD price for the bike and how would I negotiate riding gear into the purchase?

Well today it happened. I pulled the trigger and purchased a new 0 mile 2013 zx14r abs. It's the white model. This bike is sick! Rode her 30 miles home. What a sweet smooth comfortable ride. I'm so surprised how easy and manageable the power is. Granted I never went past 4k rpms. I can't imagine what kinda beast sits above 6k.
One thing I noticed the bike runs really hot. Is this normal?
Will post pics real soon.

Got for it and don't look back...you'll definitely be most impressed with what the 14R has to offer the pilot.

He sold the bike March of this year and bought a 2016 KTM 1190 Adventure R.
