Tasmania Tour...
10/20/13 9:44 PM

Hi all ZX-14 owners and their riding mates in Australia...

Just a heads up about a ride that will be happening through Tasmania beginning on the 1st December 2013 and lasting 4-5 days.

If you haven't riden through Tasmania, you haven't lived.

So far there are 5 going. 2 x ZX-14's and 3 x sports bikes.
All levels are welcome but if you own a ZX-14 you must go okay.
A love of the odd beer on the ship between the mainland and Tassi and with the locals at the places we stay at also helps.

We are at the mercy of one thing though.
The weather.
The last trip was sensational. 8 days through Tasmania, 3 hours of heavy rain, the rest bright sunshine...

If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll pass on details.

All the best and ride safe...

Gday 1400r and all.
Weather played a pretty big part on this trip.
Tasmania was predicted as rain rain rain (and later this was confirmed) so a change of plan was hatched.
A 6 day trip starting in Sydney to all Vic ski resorts ending at the Great Ocean Road and back again.
The weather was brilliant, company excellent, very few people on the road and the local constabularies were very co operative by staying away.
So many great twisty roads, so many amazing views, being out in the country and the odd beer.
One peice of advise. If you dont carry a pucture repair kit, you should strongly consider it. One of the boys on a ZX14R had a pucture coming down from Mt Buller. With out that we would have been in strife.
All roads we rode were amazing due to the great weather and lack of traffic but the stand out to me was the Black Spur. A relatively short run compared to some roads we did length wise but perfect race track like road surface and amazing turns that were just the right diameters to really let the bike go. If you are lucky enough to have no or very little traffic on this run its like being on a race track.
Stayed with some mates with amazing places and views and over 6 days we did 2990kms averaging just under 500kms per day.
We had guys join and leave us throughout the trip and had a blast.
It was a shame Tassy didn't happen but the Vic trip more than made up for it.
To me there is simply nothing like getting out on the road with your bike and a few mates and having a beer well.
A cracking trip and cant wait for the next one.

Anyone interested in joining us for the next one just let me know...

Thanks Yannih,
Shame you never got down there.
I ran around it with the Mrs in a cage and its special.
Ahhhhh. Quite Back roads and a few mates to hit the Front door of the local with.
Perfect..
I miss having a bit of under seat storage for things like the Puncture kit and compressor too.

Cheers

Yeah, I was down in Tassie 3 years ago.
During the 8 day trip, we got 3 hours of heavy rain only.
The rest was sunshine throughout.
We were blessed on that one.
Probably the best riding tour I've ever been on.
Amazing roads for motorbikes.
Very little traffic indeed.
Never really saw the boys in blue.
Brilliant views and country side.
Great pubs and locals.

Can't wait to get back.
