Delkevic Slip Ons
10/23/14 6:40 PM

Just bought my '13 ZX last Friday. Detest the OEM pipes so much I immediately ordered new tri-oval slip ons from Delkevic. Stainless 17". Am very impressed with the fit and finish. Beautiful polished stainless finish. The Delkevic logo is etched on, but it is very understated and classy. Much nicer than some gaudy bright colored sticker. Everything fit perfectly. Looks and sounds great. I am really amazed at the quality and how inexpensive they were. I weighed the Delkevic set-up at 15.6lb and the stock at 31.6lb, for a savings of 16lb over the OEM. Not as much as I expected but I'll take it.

I had not heard of them before either. Came across them on the forums and folks seemed to be really pleased with them. Not only are they good looking, well made, and sound good, but the bonus is they're cheaper than everybody else! I wasn't looking to boost the power, was more interested in looks. The Starship Enterprise nacelles had to go, first thing.

Hi Bogus1,

Beautiful! Simply beautiful!! I had a Delkevic on my Z750S and it was excellent for what I paid for. One question, does the right side mid pipe has a bracket for the center stand stop? From the package, there seems to be something sticking out from the mid pipe.

Yes the bracket is there! I'm still undecided if I will add a center stand or not. When I'm working on the bike in the garage, I have chains bolted to the ceiling that I attach ratchet straps to support the bikes, but in the past that was with the bike on the center stand. It was especially useful for tire changes.

The stock exhaust have actually grown on me quite a bit, as has the looks of the 14R overall. As I've looked at the bike more and more, the more I've come to appreciate it's lines as a work of art.

Looks great, Delks are a great product and great prices! I wish they made full exhaust (at least I haven't seen any). But they have a full range of slip-ons to fit any taste.

Aw, I see you have the infamous harbor freight rear stand in the last pic. Just dont try to lift the front end up on another stand while on that rear stand or it may try to fall over and go boom. Dont ask me how I know.

Caught it before it went down. I have 3 bike stands. Front & rear Pit Bull, a cycle gear and the Harbor Freight. Now if I'm going to raise the front on any of my bikes I make sure it's on the Pit Bulls.

Hello,

Has anyone measured dB level of Delkevic slip-on? If you have iPhone or Galaxy, you can download free dB app. I have the app on my iPhone and the OEM measures 80dB MAX at idle. Muzzy SUS slip on is 97dB at idle.

Thank you,

OldMan

With OEM Muffler

New Delkevic Muffler

Just installed and test-drove Delkevic 18" SUS slip-ons. Love them!! WIth the dB killer, it sounds around 85dB at idle (OEM is 80dB at idle) and withou the baffle it is around 90dB. Throaty exhaust note. Interesting thing is that the noise level doesn't increase at freeway. I use Nolan modular helmet and it is pretty noisy (wind noise). At 70mph, the exhaust note is almost non-existing even without the dB killer. Construction of Delkevic is solid and the mid-pipe has the centerstand stop built into it. Delkevic doesn't have the brand name like Muzzy or Yoshi, but for people who want to get something lighter but without excess noise, I highly recomend this exhaust. Besides, the price was $330 (plus Shipping)!

Now my Gen2 looks like Gen1

Nice! That looks SOOOO much better!
When I replaced mine I saved the OEMs, for just in case, despite my intense desire to fling the fugly things to the street in disgust.

Yep, I am keeping my OEM as well. Here is CAL, I may get "fix it" ticket for after market exhaust. If that happens, I need OEM.

I have used Delkevics on a number of bikes, and I intend to use them on my current machine once I find a buyer for the Muzzy I have now.

I don't know if anyone cares but here is the volume (noise) level measured by my iPhone:

OEM 80dB
Delkevic with Baffle 85dB
Delkevic w/o Baffle 90dB

The reason for quieter than say Muzzy are:

1. Exhaust opening (namely the diameter of perforated tube inside the muffler) is 1/2" smaller
2. Perforated tube is not straight design but has four protrusions inside where (I believe) the tip of the dB killer sits.

Pros on Delkevic:
1. Inexpensive
2. Very well made
3. Super fast shipping and good customer support
4. Excellent fit
5. Quieter than other slip-ons
6. Center stand stopper built into the mid-pipe
7. Their logo is engraved on the muffler with a very nice touch. In California, we don't want to get attention from LEO. SO Delkevic's logo handling is very good

Cons on Delkevic:
1. Installation manual not easy to read (OK, not that anyone needs it but just in case)
2. How about the power coating option? I wanted to get black muffler but not carbon fiber. Power coated black like Muzzy would have been nice even if at some extra cost

I will see how long the muffler/packing will last. So far with 100 miles on them, I am extremely happy with Delkevic.
