Does anyone know where I can find a thread or how to with pics showing how to replace the fuel filter in a 2006 ZX-14 ?
My tank and plastics are at the paint shop getting new color and since I have the pump sitting on my garage work bench I figured its a good time to remove the old fuel filter and install a new fuel filter.

I had a picture of the Kawasaki part(in the bag and all).They are available.For an 06?That I don't know.I don't see why not though.

I believe there was two filters wasn't there? If you search, there's info on here about it.

49019-0013..this is the outer filter part.There's an inner filter inside the pump.NOT accessible.(unless you cut the pump open).

...yeah, you need to change the whole pump to change that one.

See the 'big black body' of the fuel pump? That's the filter. The part number is the outer (pickup) screen. Want the bbb, then buy the whole pump to get it.
Short story:
1. Bike will not rev clean... main symptom of customer complaint.
2. Like new injectors were replaced... wasn't an injector.
3. Plugs were new... ran the same.
4. Compression... had plenty.

Not comp... Not spark... Has to be fuel. Pull fuel pump. Find rusty powder backwashing out of the bbb. Clogged bbb. Replace pump... Revs out... wheelies before revs out, starts well.

Inside of the tank all rusty? No.
Was it running well before the pump pulled? Yes.
Does the screen look rust in color and partially covering parts of the screen? No.
If you shake the whole pump body and gas comes out, is there rusty liquid or clear gas? Clear gas.
Leave the pump alone... NPF (no problem found).

Thanks guys,,,,I bought the 49019-0013 Filter a few months back. My problem is even after doing a forum search I cant seem to find any direction as to replacing it, So far the post / threads I have searched / found with pics are so dated the links no longer work when I click on them.

Doubt if you will find a step by step there's some pics on the links I posted on this thread.

I'd suppose you remove fuel tank,then pump.That filter apparently attaches to the bottom there."tank Removal" in the service manual should get ya there.
