1)Run 42/42 no matter the tire. More knifedge, less friction meets the road.
2)Press top arrow and hold... wait for display to change.

For normal riding, 42 psi front and rear. I've even gone with 45 psi in an attempt to get even better tire wear but I can't tell if it helps or hurts.

For twisties, it depends on the tire. I have used as low as 25 psi. Some tires feel squishy like the sidewall is flexing way too much and it scares the crap out of you. The Pirellis I have used tolerate 25 psi very well and it feels like there is an improvement in cornering traction. The tires heat up a lot easier at low psi and this should allow them to stick better, generally speaking. If they get too hot, that can make them slippery too. Never had a problem with that on the street because it's not possible to corner that hard constantly.

Thanks All

25 sounds low, but OK.

Hub - thanks for "Press top arrow and hold... wait for display to change"
It worked.
(Now I wonder if this display issue works for all ZX14 ?)

Grn14 - do you have brembo ?
(I see in the picture)

Do you know which model of caliper and pads it is ?
Thanks

Great.

My question is (and I hope I can explain it well):

I had "old" KA544 on my previous bike.
On the KA544, when I turned the spring preload adjuster by hand I could see, on the upper part of the shock, that it is moving and the spring is compressed/decompress

On the TTX39 (I guess it is KA128), nothing is moving, (when I turn the adjuster) and I don't feel any change.
When you turn the spring preload adjuster, do you see that something is moving, on the shock ?

Thanks a lot
This is a wonderfull group

I tried rotating the TTX39's preload adjuster prior to mounting it.
It took a number of turns before it hit the first detent.
Turning more, I found almost 20 detents in all, with a number of turns between each detent.
I could see the adjuster lengthen , compressing the spring from the top, but the movement was small.
Once mounted, the difference could be felt for sure.
Incidently, my manual has an error when explaining the dampening adjusters.
It states that you turn the Black or Gold knobs on the shock body.
These knobs on mine did not turn.
I adjust the dampening with a 3mm allen wrench, turning the piece in the center of the Black or Gold knob.
Hope this helps...Let me know if you have any other questions.

Yes, I understood.

"I could see the adjuster lengthen , compressing the spring from the top, but the movement was small."
This is what I am looking for.
I don't see any movement on mine.
(and it is already on the bike)

I will try to take a movie of it, while I turn the adjuster.

Thanks

Turn the adjuster counterclockwise till it stops.
Take a pic of the top of the spring and adjuster.
Now, turn the adjuster clockwise till it stops, counting the revolutions and the number of detents.
Take another picture of the spring/adjuster.
Get back to me with what you find.

OK
I think I got it.

It moves.

Two pictures in "close" position

and two in "open" position

Is it the same in yours ?

Thanks a lot!

A simple question about air pressure and 3 answers to 3 questions :-)

BTW: Hub - "Press top arrow and hold... wait for display to change"
It worked.

When the background is dark and the front is bright (white), is there a way to make the white brighter ?
(I guess not)

Nobody can see pics hosted by photobucket anymore. Not unless you pay the fee. Use the forum pic hosting.

Now I see it also.
The interesting thing is that I can't download the pictures, even when I log to my accuount in photobucket.

I am tring again.

From some reason, the "After" picture is turned around here
(originally it is not)

So it would seem you have enough travel to adjust the spring.
Did you count the detents?
BTW, your dampening adjusters are different than mine.
Yours will turn while mine have a allen head and adjuster, rather than the phillips head screw in the pics.

I tried to count but after 20 I got tired :-)
I think it is about 30 detents.

Thanks for the note regarding the dampening adjusters.

Here iz my rear Conti Motion after a full season. I was surprized how nice they looked and went to check pressure ... 24 psi. Very low and fuel consumption suffered. Normally, run 28 to 30 rear.

around 2000mi, but my tires are usually shot by this point and having less air spreads the contact patch so the middle doesnt take the brunt of contact.

I suppose that is true but I always assumed having more contact patch touching the ground would wear off a wider area...IDK. I guess I have been going by the rule I always have heard that lower pressure accelerates wear. I have not definitely noticed this to be the case in real life though. At any rate, tire pressure hasn't seemed to have had a huge impact on the length of time my tires last. I guess if they get hot, they are going to wear away easier than if they stay cold so it is more the tire temp that matters. Of course, tires with lower pressure should warm up easier than the same tire with high pressure.

"Nobody can see pics hosted by photobucket anymore".Not true...All my pics posted here are coming from my pics on PB.I choose the pic I want, click on it.The right side window is there.I copy and paste the link. Then paste it here.It stopped allowing that for a couple of days way back when they announced they were charging. Then it started working again.Been fine ever since.I have to mouse over the link I want.Left click to highlight and move the arrow to the right on the link. It scrolls across the small window till it reaches the end of the link. It's highlighted in blue.I move the arrow off the highlighted link, right click, and copy.Paste it here...it pastes the link. When I hit reply...it shows the pic.I use 'IMG' link. The other one pastes the actual link when I hit reply here.So no picture with that one...it sends the user to my site.I actually don't need to move the arrow across the link.I just 'copy' it.'IMG' link. The arrow is in the blue Highlighted link.Right click.

Are you getting the links on PB to highlight? If it's not highlighting, then it's blocked somehow.IDK why mine works fine?

It says.."sign up for free"...on the beginning page before login.Like I said...it stopped allowing highlighting for a day or so.Hell,I don't know.

I first have X out two ads that pop up over my screen and then I highlight, copy and paste. It won't copy. Nothin.

Maybe photobucket likes people out there on the great planes. It hasn't worked for me since they started the whole nonsense.

Okay...sounds like you're not going into your library window.Click on 'library'.Let em load in.Now pick a pic, left click on it.It'll open up to display just that picture.NOW...go over to the right side where the link codes are at.Pic "IMG".Highlight it by clicking right or left mouse.Right click it...choose copy.Leave the site open and come to here and post the link.Hit 'reply'.Is it working now?If the link pastes into this site,it should show that image.

If you're just opening the page where it shows your small pics with a checkbox in the lower right corner...that won't work.Don't check the box.Click on the picture...or go to library view.
