PAZZO LEVERS

Installed the short Pazzo levers and what a difference. At first they felt strange because of the length, now I love them.

+1...love mine so much and for the 14, it is about an even swap with OEM in terms of weight.

One bit of info for ya. If you start to feel the clutch lever pushrod stick, it is that bushing they put in the lever where the pin seats. The OEM is solid and IDK why Pazzo did not go with that design for Kawasaki (I guess because the bushing is part of what makes it look like a PAzzo). The bushing seems to turn fine but the actual surface that the pushrod contacts does not move smoothly with the pin. It can get to the point where the clutch sticks and then snaps out at the last moment which is pretty dangerous for takeoffs. Lube the surfaces where the bushing and the pushrod touch and it will work perfectly. I use silicone spray applied with a cotton swab. It will function nice and smooth. I Did that a few times. After about 10,000 miles of use, the lever seems to be worn in. I still touch a drop of silicone in there once in a while but seems to not be vital any more. I have mentioned this and had on other Pazzo owner reply that he had the same issue. just a friendly FYI.

The Pazzos look great. The little knob under my ring fingertip is a great for sensing the lever position. Shorties are really fine even with the rather stiff ZX-14 clutch, even for launching hard. Many serious drag racers prefer a long clutch lever for extra sensitivity. I go with the shorties for look and feel.

Rook,
I've had that problem with the clutch lever sticking since this summer with my pazzo levers. I just applied some silicone and wham, problem solved. I even had a dealer tell me to reinstall my oem levers. Good suggestion Rook.

And that's why this forum is so awesome. Most of the time, SOMEONE has had the same problem and knows the solution.

yes, was it you who responded to my post about that situation? If we have three owners who all report the clutch lever does bot opperate smoothly, I'd consider that to be conclusive. It might not happen to every single lever but at least we know it's a possibility and what to do about it.

I bought Pazzos and cheap Cjhinese knockoffs. I just couldn't bring myself to trust the "Chinazzos" as I came to call them.

sorry my pics are not viewable on this thread anymore. If anyone would like me to post them here, just Repsond here in the next few days or PM me anytime to ask for them. Got some visual of the difference between aftermarket and OEM levers and what causes the sticking (if that ever becomes an issue). It really is a Kawasaki issue. Other brands of bikes have bushings on the levers just like Pazzo but Kaw makes a solid lever. I guess if the bushing wears out you just replace it. On a Kaw lever, you need to replace the whole thing. Never heard of a lever wearing out though.

I believe this makes three. Eaglesix, near bottom of page. Me and bankhead. Pazzo dropped the ball just a bit on the ZX-14 lever. Worse part is a cheap Asian knockoff is 1/10 the price and no worse. I'm a little pissed about this --buying Pazzo because I don't trust the copies which are exact copies of a fuked up design.

He says, NO, he didn't have a problem with Pazzo except he didn't like the feel of the shorties.

I did have a problem with the m/c however.I had crashed my 2012.Ripped the m/c clean off.I went online and bought a 'new' 'kawasaki' unit.I installed, bled, did all that.I noticed once the fluid heated up,the clutch started slipping. No leaks.Slipping pretty bad once into the ride about 20 minutes.

I went on the kawasaki parts site(KAWASAKI)and bought a new m/c.Installed.Never an issue after that. What I found was this M/C I got from this guy, though it was in a Kawasaki stock box,was a defect. He may not have even known it was.The problem was the return hole had been incorrectly drilled.I think he refunded my money, and I sent it back to him.

SO..the key thing here is...any small piece of rubber that might deteriorate and lodge in that return hole COULD cause clutch slippage. That's why I always ask first if there's ANY black silt or small pieces of stuff in the res bottom. At least get that out of the way...

Thanks, Grn. I've seen black sediment in the bottom of the reservoir before but that's not the problem. I din't do a thing to the MC but change the leer back to OEM and that solved the problem. The issue seeems to have been the Pazzo lever fitting improperly. I will have to try reinstalling it to determine if that was the fault of the lever or a bad installation. The MC pushrod did not seem to have ample room in the Pazzo lever from the start but the OEM lever went on just fine.

Yep...stock lever works fine.Maybe I didn't use the pazzo's long enough?Probably. That silt i'm talking about is an indication that the rubber parts are deteriorating. For whatever reason.Maybe from the cap seal or the M/C internals...IDK.They are supposed to be replaced at a certain time....?

Yes it's every 4 years or 30,000 miles. I am quite sure I saw black sediment long before that though. First time I bled I saw that probably about 11,000 miles. I still have my originals but plan to change soon.
