Look ok for the price.

Do the other sliders have a shaft like that?Or just a bolt holding it against the engine mount?I'd be leary of that shaft sticking out...seems like that could snap off kinda easily? But then...you might want that as opposed to breaking a motor mount...IDK.I'm not sold on frame sliders completely....(can you tell?);)

If there's enough force to shear a frame slider...then what would be the point anyway? If it falls straight over...like in the garage or something...seems like the chance of cracking a mount would be kinda high?

Those stalks do look a bit long and thin for the task.
I like sliders. In my experience with crashing my ZRX 5 times(2 without sliders), they've saved both sides of the engine cases etc, and only broke the mount tab on the right side removable aluminum down-tube once - no damage to the engine, though I did have to hammer the triangular left side mount plates back to close-to-flat one time. The 2 times I wiped without sliders, I scraped the shiite out of the pulsar cover on the left which needed replacement, and the clutch cover on the right which I sanded a bit and painted but left with gouging.

I am aware that different model bikes will have differing results, and it may not be advisable to use sliders on particular bikes as opposed to others.

What I wonder is exactly how many ZX14's have actually had those catastrophic mount/engine block breakages? As well as how many compared to how many slider equppped ZX14's have crashed without that type of damage.

Thinking about when a slider-equipped bike falls sitting still vs moving, I would think there are 2 different directions of force - one, when sitting still, it's in one direction inward, two, while moving, a combo of directly inward plus the direction that's due to the rearward scraping of the slider on the ground.
I don't know; I'd like to think sliders would potentially save some of the exceptionally high cost of bodywork replacement on this bike more often than not.

Ah...they most likely work okay for mild tipovers...slow speed(very)stuff. If there was a place to mount em other than those motor mounts...I'd feel different. The shape of the mount on the ones you showed there...that may just be a good arrangement...IF it snapped off at the stalk stem...instead of the bolts?Looks like that's what they are trying to do...have the break point other than right on those engine mounts? It's possible those stalks are actually designed to bend back rather than snap off in a lowside. That would be the weakest link with those I would think.Which could be perfect!

Those ones that mount directly to the engine mount hole...the force really has very little "option" but to shear that aluminum off...the bolt's probably a lot stronger...and the slider is right on that bolt hole.It won't bend back much....before it snaps something. The diameter contacting that engine mount...makes for a bigger leverage point in an impact.I'd think that smallish diameter stalk might just be a lot 'safer'.

I gotta get some brand of slider. I imagine a laydown going around a corner could damage a big heavy bike like the 14 to where it was unrecongizable on one side. I've spent enough on replacement parts already, and the bike has not even been down yet!

But transfering the force of the fall to the engine mounts don't sound too good, either.

Don't buy GSG sliders! I got mine 5 months ago, went down at 25 mph in a turn locked front brakes....no ABS. Hit on right slider...smooth asphalt...destroyed all fairings on right hand side including nose of the 14r....only handlebar was not damaged...destroyed Brock muffler and mid pipe...scratched it...no holes....still worked but all scratched up.

I called factory to get a longer sleve extension of 1 inch...they said NO! Would not make me one or sell me one! I think another inch projection would have helped save the plastics on the right hand side...so this slider while looking pretty good on the bike....did not work for me...and NO factory support or cooperation! I have the pics to prove the damages...and it bent the long center bolt too.

Don't know of anyone who has dropped a 14 on these but Spiegler has a reputation for doing the R&D to make effective crash sliders.

they're expensive though:

nope. Pretty sure (about 90%) I was in on another thread where the 14r's LSL compatibility came up. No dice. Not yet, anyway.

I went for a set of these:
http://www.rg-racing.com/browseBike/Kawasaki/ZZR1400_%28ZX-14%29/2012/CP0311.aspx

They mount using the engine mounting points either side but also have a bracing bar that fits between the two mounts and sits just above the headers. The idea is the force of an accident is then spread between both sides giving extra strength.
They appear to be very well made and look neat.
