Cortech Magnetic Tank Bag
03/09/11 12:18 AM

Anyone used the Cortech Magnetic Tank Bag? I already have the Cortech Tail Bag and was thinking of getting the matching magnetic tank bag and saddle bags. I travel a lot and need all the luggage I can haul. I don't need a large tank bag as I will use it every day and don't want to prop my chin on it. I just wondered how the magnets would line up on the plastic/metal. I had a magnetic bag on my 636 a few years ago and it didn't work too well with the plastic.
Thanks,
Brad

I successfully used my Cortech Magnetic Tank Bag all last riding season. I was very skeptical about it staying in place because I had never used a magnet mounted bag before. The thing with the ZX 14 is only the back 2 magnets pick up any metal. The plastic shroud in the front is too thick for the magnets to attach to the metal below. It's the tether around the stem head that keeps the front of the bag situated. I have loaded my 21L up to the max and had no problems with it moving what so ever. Hope this helps!

So your Cortech has a tether up front? Check out this link. Do you think this one will work?

glue a washer to the underside of the plastic cover on the front. I use the Joerocket Manta XL and it has stayed put at 180mph indicated. The manta xl is great cause the front is rounded and my spare visor fits perfectly, so I ALWAYS have both visors with.

Guys look in to RKA luggage I think it is one of the best tank bags out there. They have some bags with power plugs in them for your GPS, Ipods and whatever you want to put in them an all kinds of colors and sizes.

I know I push these bags like I'm getting paid for it. I just love them!!

BcVulcan - That particular bag has a tether but it seems like it might be to short length wise to pick up the metal portion of the ZX14 fuel tank which would allow it to flop around. What I did was go to local shops to see/size various tank bags before I actually decided on the particular model/manufacturer. My concerns were the same as yours in regards to how many magents would actually find metal to attach to.
