Hi from San Francisco. I just took delivery of a new 2016 ZX14R ABS SE. I’ve been wanting to buy another superbike since I sold my Honda CBR1100XX twenty years ago. I started riding motorcycles 50 years ago and I’m thrilled to be back on a Kawasaki. I had a ‘89 ZX10 before the Honda and it’s amazing how much more advanced bikes are today compared to what I rode from the 60’s (Honda CB77) 70’s (Honda 750 and Kawasaki KZ900), 80’s (ZX10), and 90’s (CBR1100XX).

I’m interested in adding a full exhaust system, Power Commander, and a ECU reflash and look forward to sharing ideas with other forum members.

Welcome, but here's the deal... 2016 begins the 02 or closed loop system. Buy a pipe that has an 02 bung welded in. PC wise, you need to disable the 02 loop and if the flash does it, then you loopholed a default dash you can no longer toggle-thru. Meaning, you disconnect the 02 and set a code, you'll have to wait for the code to self clear if you reconnect the 02 back into the system.

It comes down to; remain stock and keep the throttle on longer if you want more HP.

Question about slip-ons for my 2016 ZX14R SE ABS California model: Do the OEM mufflers contain Catalysts? Rather than installing a full system requiring a fuel management system or a reflash of the ECU I’m considering adding slip-ons from Yoshimura or Akropovic. Anyone made similar upgrades to a 2016 California version?

If you get slipons, get them used and get them cheap. You'll want to replace them with a full system someday if you stay interested in the bike.

Good work! I had two Blackbirds a 99 and a 2001, put about 40k miles on each, great bikes. Then went to a 2006 ZX14, and after putting 45k miles on that, now on a 2013 ZX14R. I had a friend ask me when I got the first one what I missed about the CBR1100XX...and the answer was and still is...not a thing! Welcome!

2013 ZX14R ABS, Red, Scorpion Serket Carbon slip ons, centerstand, Rizoma Mirrors, MRA DoubleBubble, Gen-Mar risers, Buell pegs, ThrottleMeister, GIVI V35, Corbin saddle, backrest and glovebox, Power Bronze Hugger, Radiator Guard...so far...

Listen to Rook. I got Muzzy slip-ons for my 2012 ZX14R. After having them on for 2 years, I put a Brock Alien Head 2 full system on. Much better! Get ahold of Lee Pritchard on ZX1441R.com. He'll set you up with a Brock's system at a great price.

Hi new to the forum Just got yesterday a 2014 ZX14R mint with power commander 5 2 brother fiber carbon exhausts
& quick quick shift kit Full ECU re-flash racing Pazzo adjustable levers all led lights etc & all original parts.Only has 23000KM. Been riding for 38 year Just sold my 2000ZX12R put 130000Km on that bike so I did ride it & never droped it. I also have a 2007 hondaVTX1800T also all done up Bat wing 300Watt stereo pipes MTC clutch KIt & much more. Being fortunate to now the VTX1800 & ZX14R it is fantastic to switch back & fort. When I was going from the VTX1800 to the ZX12R never a dull moment. Now that I am 54 & I am in top physical shape & put work into it. I always thought it was important to do this. As I want to ride for as long as I can & have a quality of life as I get older. My god father in France had a Italian motorcycle dealership for 60 year in Dijon yes where they make the mustard. He rode big bore super Sport until he was 85 yrs old died at 101 in his sleep beat that. He was fully active until he died at is 100 birthday. There was a party were 300 Bikers showed up he sill had no issue to easily get on a bike with no help for some picture I am aiming for that. Myself I have ridden over 700 000KM in 38 on the street.
