Rook, glad to hear from you and read your thoughts. It was rough reading through your description of the accident. If there's anything I can do, or spare parts I can send.. WeBike has always worked well for me.

Thanks, Steve. All wounds except the calf are now skinned over and dressing free. It's not much of a skin...more like a clear plastic wrap but it keeps the juice in and the bacteria out. I sure hope that skin thickens up pretty soon because I need to do some kneeling to work on the bike. I got a blood blister just kneeling to start my BBQ grill yesterday. The calf wound was the largest in area but it'll be closed up in a few days. Somebody told me to keep the freshly healed wounds out of the sun to avoid scars so it looks like the rest of summer will be with long pants.

Yeah, if you have scars, stay out of the sun during peak sun hours or cover them up. Use sunscreen if you must. Fresh scars are not very resistant to UV rays so they will burn easily. Mine are like a thin sheet of cellophane right now. The sun can also cause the color of scars to differ more dramatically from surrounding skin making them more noticeable.
How does the sun affect scars?
Many people believe that exposing their scar to the sun by tanning, can help with blending the scar to their complexion. Unfortunately, sun exposure can do more harm than good when it comes to scars. Scars need extra care due to scar tissue being extremely sensitive. Due to the sensitivity of scars, they are more susceptible to damage from harmful UVA/UVB rays. Sun exposure can cause hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin) hypopigmentation (lightening of the skin), as well as cause blisters or scars to thicken which can make it even more difficult to treat the scar.

Most of my "big" scars happened when I went down in '02. I was chair/house bound for months, so sun exposure was very limited. It sounds like yall would be wise to do as you are. If you have my luck, the thin areas would develop other problems from exposure!

Yeah Rook, I wear a long sleeve UV kind of shirt to swim in. I'd wear long sleeve shirts if I have to be out in the sun for a long time. Skin is thin and the cats draw blood with that light playful bite. Dermis layer where did you go? Burned down the road don't you know.

I'll wait until the scars turn into whatever they're going turn into be it normal skin again or scar tissue skin. After that, I don't care what color they turn. I'm not going through the rest of my life not wearing short pants. It's not like I lay out in the sun trying to change my color. Whatever color everything turns out to be matters little to me as long as it's skin.

Bringing this thread out of the shadows for a moment.
After some research here (which is great info, BTW) I ordered those smoked clutch and brake reservoirs from Web!ke, and I've got to say for ~$60 I'm really impressed at not only the quality, but he speed in getting items from the Land of the Rising Sun (10days!).
Looking forward to modifying the only error in this bikes design that I can think of.

I probably responded to this thread before but I will again. I bought the webbike smoked reservoirs for the ZX-14 and they looked amazing. I'm glad I never installed them. The stock reservoirs were ripped off in my crash. I will need a new set if I restore that bike someday.
