exhaust wrapping
07/20/09 9:35 PM

A friend of mine just recently wrapped his headers on his 636 and was raving about the heat loss and possible power gains though he still has yet to ride it!!!

I was wondering does wrapping the pipes really make that much of a difference?

2nd question is being that full systems are designed to give you optimal power for your choice already does wrapping the pipes effect the design and horsepower as it seems it would keep the heat in that may have been intended to escape????

hope you all understood my line of thinking here....what are your opinions on the wrap?????

Thank you!!!!!

I wrapped mine a bit heavy. I felt a change in tune. I could not make out the difference, but there is a change in the tune. I am going to try the wrapped pipe again.

You want to keep the hot air hot. Hot air flows faster. So, what the wrap does is it keeps the heat in, so the air can move an not cool down. Now, that fast flow could be a fresh air puller outer too. That means, the warp could be so efficient, it could pull out too much unspent fuels.

So, it could be too much or no matter, that heat is the heat and that wrap is the wrap, you don't know where it's at until you dyno to know if that change helped or hindered.
