He was asking $6800 and I offered $6600. One of my personal rules of thumb is to never pay asking price...stupid of me? I don't know, but I stick and have stuck by that rule for years now

Not stupid, I'm kinda the same way... but also, when I sell something, I set the price at the minimum I'm willing to take. I make that clear to any potential buyers, and it's rare for me to have to show something more than once.

You guys are only $200 apart. You must not really want it, and he must not really want to sell it.

If you do really want it, show him the cash... it's worked for me... more than once. I've even emailed pics of the $$$.

That's cuz he knows you won't find another '06 with 250 miles. If he doesn't need money, he'll wait until someone will pay his asking price.

I wouldn't pay $6800 for it... but if you really want the bike $200 doesn't seem worth bickering, IMO.

Just FYI, I picked up a brand new, full warranty, leftover '08 for $7500 just a few months ago. Check all the dealerships 500 or 600 miles from where you are at. Might get lucky and be worth a road trip.

mymonster> I still have it, but haven't been riding it since canceling insurance in anticipation of selling it. I'm already paying over $200/mo for my note to the bank. Another $200 for insurance just didn't seem right since there was no way I was going to ride it. Of course the bank found out so I may end up getting insurance again. Sigh. I was in Atlanta all last weekend at the bike show. As far as I know, there's only one other burnt orange/black SE '14 in all of North Alabama. I believe his is stretched and customized with chrome. Definitely not my bag. To each his own though. Stretching a '14 to me is like lengthening the wheel base of a Ferrari to a stretch limo. No bueno. I also have a jet black Triumph Speed Triple I ride on occasion though. Hit me up if you feel like riding this weekend. A group of us usually ride 65 North, just east of Gurley, but I'll ride anywhere.

Pic messaging on a cell phone works even better.
