Hello again,,

I have searched this forum and didnt see any mention of a rear wheel stand people are using? Along with the pucks that the stand sits into.

I think I want to get one.

Post install,, easy, moderate,, I know everything is relative thou.

I use these stands front and rear, Have used them for a couple of years and really like them.

Pitbull makes the best motorcycle stands IMHO.

I always wanted a(pitbull)forward handle rear stand...but for the same price;
These are the ones I'm using, front(fork bottom & steering stem) & rear for $140.
Quick width adjustment (no tools required) for different bikes.

I have a Heindl pivot stand. It fits into the swingarm pivot holes on the sides. It's easy and safe to lift because it is basically a forward mounted handle stand. For storage purposes, it removes all weight from the rear shock and most from the front at the same time. I don't hear people claiming that weight on the suspension is much of an issue for storage of a motorcycle though. Using the pivot stand makes lifting the front extremely light and easy with any front stand you might pick up. The drawback is that the pivot stand must be separated into 2 pieces to put be on and removed. The thumb screws that are used to conect the two halves must be screwed down TIGHT. If you get it, wrap some tape around the tips of the pins that insert into the pivot holes so that you can avoid accidental scratches while removing the stand.

For the same price, you can have a Pit Bull forward handle rear stand. It is extremely strong and welded into one piece which is a bit of a plus over bolt-togethers. The forward handle is essential for safe, one man lifting. I wouldn't go with a rear handle stand however they do look cooler, IMO. I have a Pit Bull front stand with triple tree adapter and it is extremely well built and functions perfectly. Pit Bull is the strongest and most reliable and I don't think I've seen any other forward handle rear stands for spools being made by other companies. As far as lifting ease, I think just about any spool stand would be as good but Pit bull will be absolutely reliable for strength and quality.

I would stay away from any stand that is equiped to only lift under the swingarm. You want spools or the pivot hole stand made by Heindl works well too.

The pitbull one looks good, forward lift.

So how are the spools installed,, is it and easy install , or are we messing with the axel.

Maybe peice together what I will need. that would be great. And maybe an install of the rear spools.
Same vendor would be nice also,, but not all important.

PS,,, Im really liking this bike,, lolol.. passing power is amazing!!

Drop down a couple gears and "passing power" isn't even the right word any more.LOL

Spools are just little nobs that screw into the swing arm back by the rear wheel. Take a look, you'll see the little threaded bung welded (or is it molded) onto the swingarm. The way a spool stand works is that the V bracket on each side of the stand is fitted under each spool. Push down on the handle and this levers up on the spools which lifts the whole back up. It's not super easy but anyone can do it alone after 8 -10 practice lifts (but I'm not sure I'd want to try a solo lift with a rear mounted handle stand). I would say it takes about 80 lbs of down pressure. If you go with Pitbull, those spools have a flat surface that the v slides on so there is no way you need to be worried that the stand is not centered on the spools well. The Pit Bull spools are made of vinyl though. Vortex spools are steel and they will actually provide slider like protection to your bike if you spill. The Vortex spools have a curved surface so some people feel there is a chance the bike could shift while lifting if the stand is not centered real good in the V brackets.

Mass no offence, but if you never show another picture of that nice Stand again, I'm ok with it .... Can't sleep now. The rim, top mount brake,Galfer,gaurdless, mich tires,carbon fibre,pegs alien head monsters are coming to get me.(love Pics) Cheers. sorry but I can't help it AWESOME.

silverevo, you can't go wrong with the Pit Bull. They cost more but if your a little more concerned about safe lifting and storage, they are about as good as it gets. They look a lot beefier in real life than they do in photos. The tubing is at least 1/8" thick. If you do a search for Pit Bull motorcycle stand dealers in your area, you can give them a look and compare to other stands. You can tell by looking at them how strong they are.

I've got the forward stand as well-along with Delrin(I think)spools.What I did was cut the end off of the handle,and use an extension bar in there to get better leverage,as well as being able to lean over my bike and line up and lift the rear.If it isn't lining up to the spool on the opposite side-without ya being able to see it sit in there before ya complete the lift,yer asking for a major tipover!!!(don't ask how I know).One more thing-at least with mine,when lowering the stand,I always keep the kickstand down when I'm working on my bike.Forget that,and guess what?Also,when lowering,my "stand fork" on the opposite side will hit(and become lodged under the tip of the lower rear fairing) as she comes back down on the wheel.To avoid this....I hold the left handlebar with my left hand, lower and pull the bike towards me(and slightly rearward so she doesn't collapse the kickstand there) and pull the stand forward and toward me as I drop the bike onto the kickstand IN ONE FAST MOVEMENT-NOT slowly.(that's why ya better be sure yer kickstand's down(don't ask how I know)!!!!!!!!!!!!! I noticed masszx doesn't have the rear wing pan on there.No hitting probs on his LOL!! He's also got an aftermarket kickstand. Unless I assembled mine completely wrong,your choice of the forward handle lift stand is EXCELLENT!!!!.........However......when I went to use mine the FIRST time,set up as I "thought" it should go(as per the instructions) 1:the lift forks WERE NOT GOING TO BE WIDE ENOUGH.2-after modifying the lift forks so they'd fit okay,when I went to lift my bike-the handle WOULD NOT CLEAR THE KICKSTAND at the crucial time of the lift,when you lower the handle to the floor for the secure "locking" of your bike.Two alternatives-1:As you're lifting,remove your grasp on the motorcycle and with your left hand REACH DOWN and push the kickstand UP.This way,the ONLY thing holding your bike is...The lifting forks which are not completely securing your bike at this point(so ya BETTER NOT let up on the handle!!!)-they're holding it,but trying to push the handle all the way to the floor,and leaning over on the left side of yer bike there to lift the kickstand-No way was I gonna keep doing that(and I couldn't get my foot in there either to push the stand up that way cause of the handle being RIGHT THERE!).2:hold yer bike upright(off the kickstand),put the kickstand up,position the stand UNDER the spools(without looking mind you),and go for he lift.(sound like fun-ya,I didn't think so!).The only thing I could think of to get the handle to clear the lowered kickstand(so that if something goes wrong,at least you can roll it back on the kickstand)was to cut the end off-and use a LARGE torque wrench handle inserted into the stand handle.This gave me the inch or so clearance of the kickstand as the handle passed the tip of it while lifting the bike.WORKED PERFECTLY.Long winded-I know.But again,the forward handle PIT BULL is the best-I love mine.Had to cut off probably 4 inches,maybe a little more.Had the added benefit of being able to 1:look OVER the bike as I positioned the spool forks on the right side,while holding the handlebar and leaning the bike into the fork.And 2:increased the leverage significantly,which made lifting the bike MUCH easier.Also,the bike IS NEVER raising or lowering without your hand holding the left handlebar(you do have it locked,yes? LOL!!) I know it sounds REALLY complicated-but once you do it,it's as simple as can be.

I got a Pitbull stand for my 14, I have a T-Rex for my B-King, don't ask why two stands I don't know.

Anyway, my swingarm spools are WAY too close to the swingarm on my 14 and the stand has scratched the swingarm (%^&*$#@!).

Obviously this bike needs spools that are longer than normal to get the stand away from the swingarm a bit. Any recommendations for longer spools? I really want black, no preference on Delrin or billet, but don't really want the spiked ones.

I used Delrins-BUT,I had to mod the stand forks to clear the rim.AND,also had to cut the handle and use an extension so it would clear the kickstand.Works great IMO. Handle mod- Forks mod-(Red loctite on the bolts there).Kickstand stays DOWN always.If you could weld that cut off piece back on the end there,that would be ideal-but I've had no loosening problems with mine.(forks all the way down in the uprights). I've no idea how Masszx got his to clear the kickstand?Mass??

I just got my pitbull stand the other day,,,and the first thing I seen was how well its made!!!!!!!!!

Made in the USA,,, now if other companies could just do the same,, Is that steel they use? It has a titanium finsih to it...very nice.

I will get it installed soon, and hope not to tip it over, I will be very very careful.

It says to use locktight on the threads for the spools,, is this a must? If so what strength? And TQ?

For the first few times, it would be an okay idea to have a trusted friend hold the bike perpendicular while you position the stand and then lever it up. Or you could hold the bike and let him do a couple lifts first to see how it works. If you're really careful, you might even want to stand on a cinder block placed on either side of the bike to keep you off the seat while hold the grips and the bike gets lifted. Or, execute the lift with the right side of the bike right close to a wall so if it should fall away from you, it will only go a few inches. I believe the stand will just about hold the bike up once it is positioned on the spools and you have down pressure on the handle. It's a little unnerving lifting the first few times but it's pretty easy to do by yourself once you get used to it. Make sure that everything clears before and while you lift. I was not aware that there was any kind of side stand clearence problem with the Pit Bull.

Ah- just be careful- I'm acting like it's brain surgery. You have about the easiest stand to use. Go for it and use common sense.

If you use locktight on your spools, use the blue kind. I wouldn't go too tight when you use locktite because you are supposed to be able to tighten a tiny bit and then loosen to shear the bond. If you torque it down, it will be a lot harder to break the locktight when you remove the part.

^^I have never taken off a locktighted part so can anyone second that shearing action idea I mentioned?

Blue, I have zero problems with my sidestand interfering, perhaps there is a difference between the 06/07 and the 08/09 bikes? Then again I leave the sidestand up, I have the bike in a wheel chock that holds the bike upright when I put the stand underneath. I will find out the first time I go to put the front up on a stand to work on the front wheel.

My problem is that the spools are just too short, they don't stick out far enough from the side of the swingarm. The top of the hooks on the stand hit the swingarm as I lever the bike up onto the stand. I tried using my T-Rex stand, but the bottom mount rear caliper won't let that swingarm stand go past it. I may just have to break down and order the standard rubber coated pieces that go under and to the side of the swingarm instead of using the spools & hooks.

My pitbull spools came with spacers, I was going to ask if I needed them,, but Im sure trial and error will tell me.

I think I will skip the locktite,,,, what tq do you suppose I should snugg it too? The spools that is.
