I HIGHLY recommend this Escort Redline. My buddy has one on his 14.Got to see(and hear)it first hand last week while rollin.I installed mine this morning...can't wait to get out there and use it.Seriously...this detector totally rocks. It has for one thing the longest alert time of em all.Detects EVERY band of radar and Lazer.Detects rear signals as well.Wish I'd have had this last year.

You can bet...I don't intend to ride the speed limit everywhere I go.This really makes it possible to get slowed BEFORE they can get a read.

I use Valentine One with the H.A.R.D. system on my 14 and 14R and 10R I just sold. All 3 bikes have Techmounts on them and I rotated the Detector between them. I never leave the city limits without it. It has saved me multiple times.

I use Adaptiv motorcycle radar detector and it has a lead for LED and another for earbuds.

How do you get the audio into earbuds on yours?

I would like to see some pictures if you can post them too. Thanks.

With mine,it had an accessory cord with an 'alert'(red led)and green led for 'working'.On the same little line.Velcroed it to the detector on the front top.I can barely hear any warnings, unless I'm doing 50 or so lower...but the led thing is VERY visible in my line of sight. It's a keeper for sure.Ruled out the earbud deal.Didn't want to be messing with wiring and all.

Cara wrote"Nice detector, wish it would work in Cali ....."...you COULD mount it underneath the nose there...kinda sitting back towards the horn pointing straight ahead.NO ONE would see it.It has a nice "radar blocking feature" that allows the Police(CHP)guns to be useless in detecting you have it on(power-wise).All the wiring would install under the bodywork...so an Officer would never know you have one on there. You can get a separate 120db siren deal and fit it near the top of the radiator or someplace hidden.VERY stealth.

Detects ALL bands(not sure about Lidar)...even Lazer. If you did get stopped somehow...they'd never expect it to be up underneath in there.Would only be seeing if you had one(wiring and such)...which they'd probably not suspect anyway since they can't detect it with this technology.

Well the detectors are legal, but I don't think it will help with the instant on lidar or
lazer or what ever they call it here, now the busters, those are illegal ...

I think it does detect Lidar.Instant on is a bit more iffy(It will detect of course, but if you're speeding and he approaches at a fairly close distance...you wouldn't really have much time to slow).Lazer...most definitely.

Bought it from "Escort"..online.Highly recommend however that you buy the external speaker deal.Thought I could get by with just the Radar unit alerting sound-wise.Was a no-go.Just not loud enough when rollin. The external speaker is 29 bucks.VERY well worth it.

I also bought the 'smartcord'.Hooked it up to the battery positive and grounded it to the frame there. From there,I spliced in the speaker wires. All the extra wire length I coiled and set behind the Ram duct in there...out of sight.Works perfect!

If you can't find the speaker on their site, you can order it from another outsourcer.I think I went through Amazon.Look up 'radar speakers'...it's in there...the Escort Brand.Thing fit perfect sandwiched between the radiator top rail and the Ram duct. But you can put it almost anywhere really. It's VERY loud. The install is straight-forward...I'd recommend the Techmount 3" extension.Plus the mounting hardware as well(goes into the steering stem).I'll take a pic of it for ya....

To BlkPearl

You want this...(3")

This...,

and THIS...Escort Radar Holder mount.

1:Remove the Escort 'extension' from the radar plate holder(at the upper silver bolt there just below the plate).

2:Install the Ball mount(correct diameter as per instructions)into the steering stem hole.

3:Fit the 3"extension onto the ball mount and the Detector plate piece that's attached to the plate. It will be a half moon shape.Fit the flat side into the extension jaws so the jaws are holding that flat part in the jaw tip.Tighten securely.Length from ball socket installed and plate piece will be exactly correct for detector performance. You can get these parts on Amazon("Ram Mounts")..and the Escort Motorcycle mount from Escort.

So you stick the bottom side in your wad of gum and the upper side in your asshole. Then you unscrew it so it expands open. Pretty much what I thought.

Today was a pleasure. I had them prep my bike in the following way; Place battery tender lead to give me power right up front where I can use it for heated gear or charging. Install Adaptive radar detector harness so the power comes up front to plug into the unit which stows away in the top pocket of my Manta Magnetic Bag, and the lead to the LED alert placed on top of the Instrument Cluster, plus the lead for the Audio Out right up front to plug in my earbuds/earplugs so I may listen to the radar detector instead of wind noise or music.

With all that said, will the unit work properly being stashed inside a bag and not out in line with the windscreen? I have to "test" it, but how? I am hoping when I pass the Rite Aid in the morning, it goes off as usual to tell me that they have an alarm system working. If it does not go off, I'm screwed.

My Triumph Tankbag is taller and the radar detector mounts to a plate sewn right on top of the bag.....I might have to do the same on the ZX14. I'll know after my first ride past the pharmacy!!

Great find for most!

The Beltronics RX65 is a straightforward radar detector that's easy to master for beginners to radar detection. It doesn't come with a fancy display, and it only has a few buttons that control the three sensitivity settings. It comes with either a red or a blue display. The only difference is the blue display costs a little extra because the blue light is less noticeable at night, which is important if you're concerned about avoiding unwanted attention. However, both models are capable of operating in dark mode, which turns off the display so that you only hear alerts.

The RX65 has three sensitivity settings – Highway, AutoScan and City. The Highway setting turns off all the filters, alerting you to any radar within two to four miles. The AutoScan setting turns on an internal computer that uses digital signal processing to analyze all the detected signals to detect false alerts from real threats. The AutoScan setting is recommended for most driving, but it's not perfect. You can still receive many false alerts, especially in urban settings, where garage door openers and motion detectors are common. In this case, the City setting works best by reducing or removing the X-band from detection, because this causes the most false alerts.

It's also a laser radar detector, otherwise known as a LIDAR (light detection and ranging) detector. LIDAR guns use a narrow beam of invisible infrared light to measure your car's speed. It's very accurate and allows police officers to target individual cars, which means that the car next to you on the freeway could have a laser on it and you wouldn't know it. This also means that if you receive a LIDAR alert, the police officer already has your speed by the time you've looked down at your speedometer. The value of a LIDAR detector is in knowing that you should adjust your speed in the hopes that the officer will see the decrease in speed and move on to another vehicle.

While the simple design is effective for drivers who are new to radar detectors, the lack of GPS is its greatest flaw. The best radar detectors help you avoid speed traps, speed cameras and red-light cameras by using GPS. Without the built-in GPS, you're only alerted to active traffic cops. It won't learn where false alerts repeatedly occur. You can't mark locations you suspect are speed traps or receive locations from other users
