New Exhaust Hangers - installed
04/03/16 12:13 PM

Installed a set of exhaust hangers and did a fenderectomy .

Installed the Yoshimura fender kit.

Was hard to find exhaust hangers. Found this one made by valtermoto in Italy

Bought from a German company on Ebay, took 1 week to be delivered.
Cost around $85 delivered.

Found other one on japan.webike.net they had a nice carbon fiber hanger for around $200

Good way to dump some weight. 2wheelworkz used to make a nice one but they stopped making those. Was $60 for just one. I look forward to the day when I won't need any exhaust hanger at all. I plan to make a shorty someday.

For those of us who ride solo (99% of the time for me) those look really slick. I think I could probably make some out of some 3/16" alloy plate. The only question would be; Are they sturdy enough to carry the SW Motech QD hardbag mounts with the bags loaded? The upper front bracket bolts to the subframe, but the lower one only attaches to the hanger.

I noticed on the Ebay listing, he pic they show is of a bracket that looks more difficult to copy than the ones they sent you.

Someone could probably make themselves, but for me, they
would of look like crap if I made them and for $85 not to expensive.

Definitely not as sturdy as the stock brackets.
Sturdy enough for luggage mount, couldn't answer that one.

Keep in mind, pretty easy to swap out if needed. 15+/- minutes.

The picture on the Ebay listing is not correct. I actually emailed
them asking why the bolt mount towards the rear. The replied quickly
with correct picture and said the part number was correct by pic was wrong.

Yes, You could make out of aluminum but after what you pay for a plate that heavy a gauge and do all the figuring and cutting, might as well spend the $85. I saw a post a couple years ago where a guy made his own muffler hangers. looked nice but for all the time it takes to get these things right, might as well spend the $$ and let someone else do it unless you just love to fab stuff yourself.

Only one part in this pile is factory stock and that's the primary cover. The footpeg plates in the upper let corner have been cut and modified. The other parts I made from scrap aluminum sheet and an old dirtbike skid plate.

I learned to help my Dad make gunstocks and things sort of steamrolled from there. Lots of credit goes to my metal polisher for the final finish on those pieces. He can take a piece of junk out of a mud puddle and make it shiny.

Carbon Fiber exhaust hanger This looks like a decent option for a light and simple mount. Not very cheap though. This must be the mounts that the OP referenced.
If I never save enough for a Brocks Titanium exhaust will probably end up with some carbon exhaust hangers or bend my own out of aluminum.

Wow...
Those carbon fibre versions look amazing and very tempting.

But I won't be changing to them any time soon for one simple reason.
On long rides where my back starts to complain a little I reach down and back, lower the pax foot pegs and put the tops of my feet on them. I then lean forward with my stomach on the tank. Takes all the weight off my back and am good as gold for another hour or two after about 2 minutes of this.

Not to mention if the missus wants to jump on the back for a spin every now and then...

That's an interesting stretch, seems like its always my knees and wrists that ache..
Those carbon bits are definitely not passenger friendly. Promised the wife one ride, after that I'm pretty sure the second frame rails are coming off. :)
