Stretched, fat tire bikes look cool and all.... but there is no way that it doesn't affect the way the bike handles.
For some the change may better suit the way they ride.... but I have rashed up lowers, pegs, and alien head telling me that it would be a step in the wrong direction for me.

Bike still looks great, Syko!
Your's looks great too, Slak!

Steven, time to start BOTM back up!

Hey, Dogo, you're right in several ways.... I guess it all depends on how fine you want to go. I'm not a track expert, by any means. All I do is get on the damn thing and go. :)

Nice lookin' ride, mlowell!

I too have considered installing swingarm extensions and have researched it some.

There are those that say that the extensions slow your steering. If you extended the rear and lower it back to the stock height I can see how this could happen.

On the other hand, if you lower the front forks into the triple tree you decrease the angle of the steering. This results in a faster steering bike.

If you install the extensions you raise the rear of the bike (I'm not exactly sure how much). This results in a decrease in the steering angle which would have the same effect as lowering the forks in the triple trees. Thusly, you will have a larger turning radius (it can't be much with 3"-6" extensions) but if you do not lower the rear end you quite possibly have a more responsive (quicker steering) bike. All-in-all, with the 3"-6" extensions I think that you would "breake evern" and have a slightly longer bike with the same steering.

Just my two cents worth

How much does stretching raise the rear of the bike?

PUT a spacer 5mm top of the monoshock on my CBR1100XX that totally improved the tight turning ! fact before I couldn't stay with the "sportbikes" after I could, this tip came off the CBR1100XX forum an I was stunned at how for just less than 1" reduction in wheelbase made the bird turn in heaps harder !

2006 CBR1100xx with a few mods + V Star 1300A Cobra swept exhaust,Fi2000 EFI,Big air kit, Rad cover/Guard,Forward controls/pegs,Pillion mini boards,screen,rack,Saddleman seat a few chrome bits.

I have an '08 ZX14 with a 4- 4/12 in. stretch and lowering links in the middle position,
(2 in). Front was left in stock position. I love off-ramps and take them with authority.
No real neg effects on handling and the stretch will definitely keeep the front planted on
spirited take-offs and 1st gear roll-ons.

Do you recall how much the extensions raised the back of the bike? Do you have any pics of your bike?
