This may be a perfectly good company to deal with, but I will report an experience I had this week with them that has caused me not to want to deal with them in the future. I see that they sell through eBay as well as through their own website.
Last weekend, I ordered a Yoshimura exhaust system through the jcmotors.com website. On Monday, the purchase amount was charged against my debit card account. I did not receive any email confirmation of shipment, so I contacted them through their chat system on Tuesday. I asked if the order had shipped. They said that it had not, but that it would ship "today or tomorrow" (Tuesday or Wednesday) and that I would get an email with tracking information when it did.
I received no email on Tuesday or Wednesday, so on Thursday I contacted them again through their online chat, which works pretty well. I was told that they didn't have the product, but that someone (don't remember his name) had personally ordered them from Yoshimura and would call me "when he gets in". I was told that this was a discontinued product -- much to my surprise.
I asked them to cancel the order and credit my bank account immediately. They said they would, and the funds were back by Friday morning.
I have several problems with this:
- A company should not take your money (charge your account) until they ship the product.
- There was no indication on their website that the item was discontinued or that it not in stock.
- The information I got on Tuesday (that the order would ship Tuesday or Wednesday) was not correct and didn't line up with subsequent events.
As I say, this may be a good company, and I may just have had a bad/unlucky experience with them.
I'm hoping that if that is the case, others who have had good experiences with them will add to this thread and we can get a complete picture of them.
For now, though, you might exercise caution... -bg
