Maybe I was a bit harsh, but this sort of thing really pushes my buttons! I beleave the dealers are just as much at fault, as they take your money for a PD but dont check much.
My dealers mechanic however did check some nuts and bolts before they put the screen on, and found several bolts and fasteners that were loose. The difference between a good and bad dealer I guess.

I actually did find those two bolts not totally tight.Glad someone mentioned it way back when...when these 14R's first hit the showrooms. My bottom one took a 1/4 turn, not much...but it would have loosened up more if I hadn't known about it here.Loctited both of em last night...finally.But they were not completely tight back when I first had my bike...several months ago now. It's a widespread deal now...many 14r's have had this thing with those bolts.I'd imagine the next batch of 14r's are gonna be a tad closer looked at on the assemblyline this next go round. For 2013.

no doubt that next year will be a better year. I am sure Kawasaki will address this with as many complaints that they will have. then again at warp 5 what the hell do we expect right? lol!

Congratulations! we all bought kawi-davidsons.

No bolts have fallen off my 2010 HD and I have 4x as many miles on it. I'd say without question that the build quaity of my 14R is not better than the build quality of my HD.

My local dealer would not replace my fairing nut under warranty. The service manager said that checking nut torque is part of normal maintenance and because I don't get my bike serviced at their shop he would not cover the cost. He also told me that my warranty is void because I perform my own service. He said that the owners manual states that normal maintenance must be performed by an authorized dealer, otherwise the warranty is void. I told him that is illegal (Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act), paid $1 for the nut, and walked away.

This morning when I washed and waxed my Concours 14, I found two inner fairing bolts (really machine screws with hex bolt heads) were missing. And one of the two quick rivets which hold the the chin pieces bottom front together was gone. So I replaced them.

I check mine before every trip.

Rossb, if you wish to pursue the discussion with your local dealership service manager, take your owners manual into the shop and ask the manager to read page 206. More specifically, the third paragraph under the topic header "What Am I Responsible For?". While it is true that you would be responsible for the missing fastener, you are certainly not required to have this dealership or any other dealership in the country perform the routine maintenance in order to keep the warranty in effect. The maintenance items must be performed but you are given leeway as to how you accomplish these tasks.

That $1.00 nut could have gone a long way toward building relations but of course that opportunity is lost now.
