Had my Nuvi 1490 laying around and decided to mount it. I used it on my gl1800 Goldwing before she got sold.

How do you like your Nuvi

It works great for me. I use it primarily to see were roads I'am unfamiliar with go, found lots of roads ordinarily wouldn't have tried. If it rains I place a ziplock bag around it and keep going, never had a problem to date and numerous encounters with rain on the Goldwing.

How much do one of them fancy fandangle thingy magiggers go for?

From what I found $599 - $700. High quality though.

Cornelius, here's my "magigger" setup...Nuvi 1490 5" GPS ($100-$130), Ram-Mount M8 stem kit ($8.00), Nuvi 1490 cradle ($12.00), 3"socket arm ($10.00) and ziplock Baggie for the rain. Since I can't use stem mount for GPS because of damper, replaced upper left stem bolt with ball attached to 3" extension. This placed GPS in the same position as if I were using stem mount.

I will have to put in a couple more Saturdays to buy that one too
