Touring Wind Screen
04/17/09 10:19 PM

I am looking for a tall wind shield for my 07 ZX-14. So far the Zero Gravity 23-274 is the only
one I can find. I saw a ZX-14 with a Taller wind shield...Help going on long trip.
Thanks
Louis

I had the Zero Gravity Sport Touring screen - I think it did offer a bit better protection. My only issue with it was that it wasn't as sturdy as the stock screen - it would wiggle a little (not much) at speed.

I'll probably get another one and use it in the winter time - probably go with a lower screen like the Double Bubble for warm weather riding.

be careful. A lot of 14 owners i've chatted to have complained of increased turbulence with other screens. Best feedback I had was from those using the kawasaki touring screen. I picked one up today and fitted it this evening but haven't tried it yet. I'm off in a couple of weeks on a 2,000 mile trip through the Alps to Monza, Italy for the WS. I'll let you know how I get on with it.

PS Fitting was easys, all a good fit and quality seemed good.

The Kaw touring windscreen is very nice. I have ridden about 3k miles with mine and it makes a huge difference. It looks sort of odd with the cutouts though.

Could you link to the kawasaki.com parts page for that windscreen, please, or to a reseller? I cannot find what I think you are talking about....

MRA windshield is the same as the Kawi touring but about $20-30 less than Kawasaki. It is identical even to the cutouts, I have had mine for about a 1000 miles and it makes only minor difference in wind blast. I too have seen ZXs with a much larger screen but they aren't very good looking. Just my .02 worth.

Where can I get a MRA for 2007 ZX-14 ? Part# for kawasaki ZX-14 shield that is taller than my Zero Gravity Double Bubble. The Zero Gravity Sport Shield was a LOT better than a DB or stock ZX-14 screen. But I am 6ft 3 and want a taller screen than the ZG-ST I used on this trip that I can take OFF when I get home :-)

I have the ZG sport touring, and it's great. I've had this bike full balls-out and I see no problems with it.

Pick window curtains LMAO Sunshine :-) no I did not ride on the yellow short bus going to Good manners school :-)

Most of the owners of the Zero Gravity Sport Screen were average height who have posted on the other forum. Being 6ft 3 makes a wind shield Great for some people and not as good for Taller riders.

What airbox mod did you do?? And no I don't want a date, but you could send some $$ my way for a trick oil pan. :-)

If I'm payin' for a oil pan I'm damn sure gettin' a date.
I like the screen, my wife complains at higher speed she gets more buffeting than before.

There is a hose under the tank that feeds air into the airbox for emmisions crap. Some disable the servo that controls the air input, some, like me, just cut the hose and stick a ball-bearing, marble, etc in the end that goes into your airbox. I, and others find that it helps some with the decel popping with the very loud open pipes I run.
Ohh, yes, loud.

Thanks I have the Muzzy Block off plates, but did not install yet. Left the emmision tube connected. When I installed

my M14 exhaust. The TRE cured ALL popping went closeing the throttle.

I read that some engines that have More HP use that tube for a second crankcase vent.

There was two different air box mods for my old Busa, swap stacks and enlarge hole( 2 sizes) for air filter.

When I installed a K&N air filter I replaced the plastic frame cover with a 08 metal cover.

My plastic cover have wraped and let dirt in. I did 1000 mile trip with the ZG/ST screen and it was better

than stock or the ZG/DB I have but I am so damn tall I need a Lamiar Lip added to the taller ZG but I have

not found one that has the curve that will match. My wife will not ride on the ZX-14. She like the old FJ1200

when she wants to fo riding... sigh. Had it new in 1986 and 51000 miles and she still hauls two up with out a

back ache. :-) it's just Slow to me now.

My other half hasn't riden on the 14 yet, I think she is nervous about the power and is more comfortable on the zrx12 with the backrest, will have to get a backrest for the 14 so that I can sport tour with it and bring her.

I'm very happy with my Kawasaki "Spoiler" screen. The cutouts give it a noce tech look but I also assume they have a function. Some Guy in a lab coat got paid a lot of money to conjure up a screen which would not interfere with bike stability at very fast speeds. If I wanted more protection I would have bought a Concourse. The larger size probably woln't matter a lot if you keep it under a C note. I like the idea of changing it out for long trips. I don't go very fast when someone's on the back.

Puig makes a nice screen too, it's a little higher without looking silly. I'm 6'3" and it made higher speeds much nicer when not tucked. BTW:It's the one pictured on my avatar.

My Zero Gravity Double Bubble dark smoked is about stock height but on a 1000 mile trip the ZG Sport Touring
shield is about 4.5" taller than stock and wish it was a few inches taller. Just for long trips and the C-14 seat
is really great but I hate the way the ZX-14 looks when I have all the touring items on and the soft bags (3)
across the back seat and tank bag too :-) my wife calls the Black Ninja " Miss-Understood" as I have extensions and dog bone links and strap kit for the times I drag race. :-) I laughed and said I need 3 bikes.
