Soft luggage support
12/10/13 8:34 PM

Need some help guys. I am looking for some type of support for my Cortech soft saddle bags. Love the bags, hate the way they sit on the plastics. Any ideas ?

Yeah..that's a problem alright. The only reason I haven't gotten any bags yet...still waiting for a good symmetrical mounting system...something simple.

See my post under General about Blaze bag system. Coxyboy bought a set looks good but I was told by both Twisted Throttle and SW Motech that they don't make them for the ZX14. They have a slip on support bar that slides into the back of the bag. I need a set because I broke my bodywork with bags slung over the seat. Still trying to get answers about availability.....

Missihippi, I found they make the Blaze system for the "ZZR14" from 2011 on. I need to know from fellow forum members if there is any difference in the subframe between a 2006 and a 2011.

Looks like a cool sytlish deal here;)Nice low profile...doesn't look like it'll harm the side fairings.I just might;)

I put the Ventura pack on my N1k and now putting one on my 14R.The bags come off in seconds and you can replace the rack with a grab handle. There's also a "sport rack" that will keep any bag off the fender.I'll post pics of both as soon as I get mine in and installed. This is the link to the racks part but it you'll probably have to type it in.

Subframes are virtually identical. Plenty stout to support the weight of luggage. Unfortunately the plastics are too flimsy and will always crack with sling-over bags.

Hey Bean,I thought that was the Ventura rack(seen in one of your other photos).Well done if you made that yourself but now I'm really curious how the Ventura is going to mount to my 14.

Hey Grn, I looked at that Bags-Connection EVO cargo bag. Looks great. It also mates with a special tent-bag that they sell. If they still have that available when I have the $$$ I will definitely consider them. Looks perfect for my needs, weekend camping getaway. Also nice that they are modeling it on a 14R :). Hope it fits as well on an '11.

Yeah...I think they look great;)The rear fairings are virtually the same on the earlier 14's...don't see any prob with em installing...not a bad price either.I didn't(don't)want a bulky rear on my bike when I'm riding around...these look to me like a nice aerodynamic setup...and stylish for the zx.Kinda slips a bit onto the rear area of the pilot seat....maybe a mini backrest of sorts?;)

I can't have a bag that sits on the passenger seat. My wife would kill me. That's her office back there where she can concentrate on beating me on the back of the head while yelling "Faster you coward!!!"

You can always make your own like these:

Keeps soft bags off the plastic and cost about $20.

ZX14Rohlins,
Man! Love that S.E. paint scheme!
Reminds me of my 2002 ZX-12.
Wish we had that option here in Canada.

Cheers,

Rob

The one thing I have never understood Rob is why they don't just offer the different colors world wide. How hard can it be!!...

Hey Builderwill, how about showing how you made the mount brackets? If it's only $20 I'm interested! ( cause I'm a cheap bastard...)

Here's a link to the original thread I posted last year. They work well and have been stable up to 150. They are not the most attractive with out the bags on but they take about 5 minutes to take off the bike.
