Upper Front Camshaft Chain Guide Bolt Loose
07/25/12 8:23 PM

Hey guys, a while since I've been on here...been busy.
But where else to go when I have ZX14 question.
Came back from a ride and noticed some oil on the right side grill.
Started searching and found this bolt (B in the pic) totally loose, unscrewed it by hand!
It's the "Upper Front Camshaft Chain Guide Bolt". Without thinking, I unscrewed it and removed it.
Put it back in and torqued it to spec. Haven't started the bike, do I need to worry about anything.
Would the Chain Guide drop or move because I did this?
Thanks

There is a bolt up high on that guide. It can't fall down unless you remove both screws. Look at page 5-26.

In the pic you posted there are two "B" bolts... they both hold that guide in place. Just be sure the guide is seated where you removed the bolt.

Hey thats crazy. The same thing happened to be last winter.Mine fell off.And it was seeping oil.It was laying on my garage floor like I took it off.I took the bolt in and showed it to this master mechanic from Suzuki.Yeah right. He had no idea what it was.I looked in the manual, put it back on and never came loose again.Huh

How did that happen?

Must not have been properly torqued from the factory.

I wonder which other bolts they missed?
