a guy can dream, can't he? LOL --one step at a time. I have 49000 miles on mine and I'm still modding. Wheels can probably be put on the bottom of the list. The tires I'll bet you could find at any road racing track but be careful of the size. 200/60 might not fit the front of the swingarm. The quickshifter will ad a lot to your riding and racing experience but for drag racing, I might look for an electric or air shifter.

Probably won't be able to afford the wheels. The rest should be do able, especially if they are used with a few miles and part of a package deal. I'm not in too big of a hurry, but it seems like these parts are about the minimum necessary to get me and the bike up to my goal.
Unless you know of some cheap shortcuts?

Rook, what size do you run? I thought you were using larger tires?
Something like this set of harder compound slicks seem like they would be light, aerodynamic and durable enough for a few races.

The page cannot be found

I used a 200/55/17 Pirelli superbike Pro with same 120/70 front. damned nice tire. will cook in no time drag racing I'm sure. STG had them now out of stock. Might have been the end of those. I would have bought more for future use if I had the doe.

Used 190/55 in the past. 200/55 is about as close to the swingarm I would want to go (quarter inch, maybe ~3/16") unless the wheel base was lengthened to move the wheel back a quarter inch.

200/60 will fit. It's close, but it fits and doesn't rub at speed.

I know I'm new here but had seen your thread when it started. I'm well established on the zx1441r website with the same user name. I've got a full set of 5 Worldwide Bearing ceramics I purchased from Brocks in 2014. They were professionally installed and used for drag racing only for 1 season before I bought Metal Scorpio wheels. They were then professionally removed with all the right tooling to prevent damage and have less than 150 runs and zero street miles. I'm going to start advertising them For $250 shipped anywhere in the USA via USPS priority mail but will offer them to you before I post the ad's for $225 shipped. I'll wait a week or for you to decline, Aloha, Rick B...

Rick, I'm a little leery of used bearings, (probably for no reason) but I am interested.

Aloha Steve, I understand being leery of used bearings. I've been a factory trained and certified Ford tech since 1978 They weren't hammered in or out. They were installed with a press against the outer races and removed with a bearing puller, not a slide hammer. I'm putting my 2012 back to stock street trim and knew they'd add no extra value to a street bike. No pressure but I will start advertising them this weekend. I'm fine with Paypal which gives you a safety net if when you got them they didn't "feel" right to you. My only concern is someone buys them and doesn't install them properly causing damage then blaming me. Aloha, Rick B...

I wonder how much a 200/55 or 200/60 tire would grow at 200+ mph? Is there any consensus on the minimum clearance necessary for high speed operation, (1/4?) and or how much difference is there in the amount that various tires will expand?

A Pirelli 200/55 Supercorsa SP doesn't grow enough to touch at 200mph. Same goes for the 200/60 SC2 Superbike slicks.

I can't speak for other brands... but honestly why would you run anything other than Pirelli?

The only other option would be Michelin race tires as I can get them locally for $70/Tire.

Guess I also need sato rear sets (or similar) to use the quickshifter.

I wonder how much a 200/55 or 200/60 tire would grow at 200+ mph?

I did close to 180 last fall and AFAIK, the 200/55 did not touch. No rubber or scuffs on swingarm but DAMN is that thing close.

Guess I also need sato rear sets (or similar) to use the quickshifter.

Yes you do unless you with the HM+ shift pedal/strain gauge in one. Take off the OEM shift pedal and slap on the HM. Hook it up. Rearsets are a lot cooler though IMHO.

If you get rearsets, I recommend Vortex over Sato. Sato's main advantages are the little oil port on the rose joint and the delrin toe peg that wont leave an aluminum oxides smudge on the toe of your shoe. Nice features but otherwise work no better than Vortex. Sato's rear brake Vortex is cheaper and I believe easier to acquire replacement parts. I personally prefer the look, grip and feel of the big teeth on the Vortex pegs compared to the small nurling on Sato. Overall, the Satos look smallish and more like something you'd see on a smaller sportbike.

Satos weigh a an ounce or two less / side but you could dremel and cut the Vortexes down a lot....that big block for adjustment is dead weight on the Vortex + they have some recesses on the heel guards you could cut out. Be lighter than Sato then.

..and Vortex has a much greater variety of foot positions you could adjust to. Sato might get your feet up higher and farther back if that's what you're after. Never was able to determine that for sure.

I have Satos on my busa. Vortex on the 14.

If you go with rearsets, you will also need the proper length shift rod to accept that strain gauge. They sell shift rods everywhere and all look pretty much same to me. Bought mine from Annitori where I purchased the HM from. Good peeps.

Interesting point. I like folding pegs, much easier on my shims, and it makes my right garage less of an issue. Might just get new foot pegs and the one piece shifter. I dont think I've seen that setup before, definitely the most simple option.

Should work for you. I love the look of rearsets even if they are a bit heavier than the stock foot peg assy. I would recommend you go with one of the higher end HM shifters that does autoblip for clutchless downshifts. It will be twice the fun! Lots more $$$ but worth it IMO.

I like the look of rear sets too, but not the added weight. I made an aluminum exhaust mount off of the stock rear sets instead of the heavy steel mount that came with the exhaust. Not sure how hard that would be to duplicate with rear sets.
I would like gp shift for speed and aerodynamics. Oh well..

Rearsets look hot as hell but from what i could tell by measuring with a tape measure, the stock footpegs give you pretty much the same cornering clearance as Vortex raised to the max....being that the stockers do not stick out as far and the have a beveled bottom. IDK how much it matters if you can position the Vortex a quarter inch farther back. Aftermarket rearsets look cool though and you can do GP shift which I think would enhance the use of a foot quickshifter very much.
i might be able to do that mod before spring. LOL mods on mods....it never ends!
