Power Stunt Worx sells a "mushroom cap" which fits into the two front tubes. The insert is a heavy wall tube cut at a 45 degree angle. Witha bolt through the cap, and tube and a nut on the end, as you tighten, the tube halves slide, on the angle cut, to become offset, spreading the tube halves to provide outward pressure. The cap is thereby held in by friction. Installation takes 60 seconds.
If that isn't clear let me know and I'll take a picture.

There are axle sliders that mount the same way. They are about the right size but twice as expensive as the mushroom caps. The trick is to get the same diameter as the rail tube. It wouldn't be too difficult to fabricate the mounting aparatus and use any slider. I'll do some photos tomorrow.

I found a picture. The axle sliders are the long ones. The one at the top is the "mushroom" cap slider. It's small enough to not be intrusive or disproportionate to the rail. You can see the mounting system I described.

Hey Sharkey thanks for the pictures!!! after you mentioned them the 1st time I went back to the website and took a look for those and saw those pictures... so I am guessing you slide them in the hole and then you tighten it down and the bottom piece moves up and slides out which cause it to jam inside per se??? now to add something other than that mushroom cap i would just have to????

hey privateer I copied the link and pasted it in a new window and it worked fine!!!

Just to give you a brief, its a rant about how a couple people don't like Power Stunt Worx service and and how long it took to receive the product and getting the run around for I think they said 2 mos. when I ordered them it did take 1 month but they told me from the door it would take approx 4-6 weeks!

Yes, I copied it too, have had to for a week now. Previously, we could click a link and a new window would open it, as it should be. Something changed.

RE: race railz

FLASH!! Race Railz update.
I've never really liked the way the Railz mount in the back. I did not like the removal of that rear motor mount through bolt. It's a complex bolt provided with a spacer and collar so it will be precisely mounted.
I discovered that a 6mm allthread will pass through the center of that stock thru bolt. I had some Soto Racing front axle sliders on the front wheel which I removed. They are small rounded buttons that mount with a piece of 1/4" allthread, (which is slightly larger than 6mm.) I'm going to cut off about 1" from the rear tubes so they will fully enter the openings within which the stock motor mount through bolt passes.
Confusing...yea, you'll have to look at it. I'll tell you what...I'm going to take some photos tomorrow as I mount my rail.

Shark

def a bit confusing... I ordered the Mushroom sliders early last week and of course have yet to receive them, so I called today around 1pm and the response was that the sliders would go out either today(I guess after we got off the phone) or tomorrow!!! basically i still have yet to install my railz.....

Interested to see pics. Removing an engine mount does sound like a bad way to put sliders on but I really like those rails and I believe they would be about the safest slider you can get.

This should help:
Look at your rear, upper motor/trans mount. You see a thru bolt which is hollow. The way the manufacturer has the rail mounting here would be to remove this thrubolt and install a piece of allthread. Look in your manual and you will see that this is no simple bolt. It had a collar and a spacer to allow it to mount just right. The allthread would not fill the space occupied by the thrubolt and has the potential to allow misalignment of the engine and frame.
I found that a 6mm bolt would pass through the hole in the stock bolt. I had some Soto Racing front axle sliders on my bike and they mount with a 6mm allthrerad from side to side. The allthread is not long enough for the rail so you need to buy one (or take a 1/4" rod and gring it down slightly and it will slip through, which is what I did.)
Then you will need to take a little off the ends of the tubes which insert into the frame. The Sato sliders worked nicely but you could do the same thing with washers and cap nuts.

[img][/img]

I like that I no longer have the engine mount removed.

There is also another comparable product out. B2's Pro Rails www.moto911.com
I like the way this one uses two mounts in fromt instead of one. If I didn't already have my rail...

CAUTION!
Frequent removal and installation of the front motor mount can lead to damaging the threads in the engine. I ended up having to use a nut on the inside if the mounting location in order to get proper torque.

Hope this helps some...

Sharkey,

I don't see where B2 or Racing 905 make these bars for a 14. When I click your link it takes me back to this thread. I also tried just going there but it shows the 6 and 10. Can you tell me where to find them.

You know, I didn't verify that they had them for the 14. They just looked so much like the Race Railz I got excited.
Sure would be worth seeing if they do or plan to make them. It's a much better design. Spreads the load!
I'd be tempted to remove my Race Railz to make the upgrade. Looks like the same motor mount replacement in the rear as I had a problem with. I'd like to call and talk to them about it, however I just had an operation on my throat and I can't talk for ten more days. That's why I've been sitting here haunting the forum every day.

I was already thinking, before I got mine, to add a plate at the front mounting point to the other bolt. That way it would have the multi-mounting point of some of those other sliders I've seen. I have also been considering running another bar under to tie it all together. I'm not stunting it though so I think that is overkill.

Sounds like a good idea. Welding is not one of my skills. I never took it up cause every welder I know is a little wacko. I think it's the fumes. I have to be selective now about what activities I do to burn brain cells.

I was going to see how it would work, but I wasn't thinking I would have to weld it. If it is bolted at both points it shouldn't have to be. I think. I will know more in a couple hours. I called Stuntworks early this morning then at 4:50. They did not answer the phone or return my calls. Not impressed so far.

It has to be welded because in order for the unit to spread out impact the unit has to be a single piece.

Powers Stunworx has the stunt version with the under bar. It would be possible to fabricate one for the racer railz but then you'd have to have it sent out to be blasted and powder coated too, after the welding and grinding.
