Just got one for my 06' - install was easy (diggin thru the plastics is the worst part) the instructions for the tension adjustment are a little vage, (rotate the engine forward while screwing the tensioner in. When you feel the engine tensioner parts (guide, rollers, etc. ) make contact with the moving cam chain, back the tensioner bolt up 1/4 turn and tighten lock nut.)
I tried it with the engine off, and could not easyly tell where it was making contact, so I tried it with the engine at idle, back off till the normal start up rattle, then finger tightened it till I could definitly feel contact with the follower - it was much easyer to feel with the motor running, and the bolt turned much easyer - then backed off 1/4 turn & tightened the lock nut.
No more crappy rattle on start up (or much longer!) I will keep and eye on things for a while, but I like not sounding like a thrashing machien until the oil starts flowin good.
By the way, the horroble noise from a loose cam chain it seems like a lot of owners complain about on start up and at other times - is definitly the cam chain - you can make the noise come and go with your fingers during adjustment - hope this eases some fears - stop worrying - it's just the cam chain - fix it for $50 from Schintz.

i was going to put one in also, but then i had the motor issue the first thing the dealer replaced was the tensioner. It didnt solve the motor noise but since ive gotten it back it doesnt make rattle at start up. I wonder if they updated the tensioner from the factory. I will leave it alone until it starts making noise, if it does will swap it out for the manual tensioner. I had one on my cbr it worked great.
