Thanks guys, I figured it out, the two loose wires went into the oem housing. I went to autozone and bought some silicone to keep them in place, I will put some pics up when I am complete, just finished one side, it is almost bliding bright... not sure if I even need to put the lights in on the right side! Does anyone know what screw(s) or where it is that is supposed to adjust your low beams higher?

There is a manual you can download tacked in General. One of them has fiche, too.

Glad you decided to silicone adhesive the HID male prongs into the OEM connector (frame-side). As I wrote above, thats how I did it, and its been bullet-proof for 2 riding seasons and will probably outlast the bike.

From what I've gathered from blue07 and some others, if your connections are solid the 55W HIDs should light up reliably.

Some have problems with them lighting up, possibly due to poor connections. I don't think they use too much power.

As a side note, I added up my Amps requirement including running my lighted Givi luggage, a pair of DDM 35W Hids, a piggy, a speedohealer, heated grips, and two BMW variable controlled 12v sockets for heated gear. I don't count the Zumo 550 gps, maybe I should.

If I am wearing heated gear, I have like 3-4 Amps coming out of the alternator unused, if I'm lucky. If I had put 55W HIDs on, my battery would be in discharge mode when I'm running heated gear.

And even though I have a little spare amperage, I still upgraded the stator and regulator/rectifier to high output versions because 3 spare Amps isn't enough.

And I still find 35W DDM HIDs in 6,000K to provide more light than I need at night in the dark, dark, Appalachian mountains.

I think 35Watts should do for most guys.I wanted BRIGHT BRIGHT night vison.Actually Privateer...I did the silicone thing when I first installed mine. The DDM plugs didn't do too well. The silicone deal works very well.No problems with mine since....forever.

ya, my connections to the OEM frame-side harness have been solid since I first installed, back in like 2009 I think. And I have ridden on some rough roads and it hasn't glitched once.

And they come on instantly. Thumb high beam, BAM they are on.

Does anyone have a link to the fiche or have instructions on adjusting the height of the low beam lights?

Right out of the shop manual. Heh.

I took a tape measure, reeled out 25 feet from front of bike in garage, and put my stepladder there. Put a big piece of cardboard on it.

Waited for twilight. Adjusted.

Did a road test the next night, got lucky, had them just right. Haven't messed with them since.

The best thing isn't always the simplest thing, the best thing is something you only have to do once and never feel like it needs to be improved or changed. Which is not the same thing.

Speaking of lights, I just coated my plate with PhotoBlocker (three coats) so now I want to see the photo radar (which all use strobe flashes on the east coast pretty much) take a picture of my plate. Mwahahahahahaha.

A1A Sportbike now has ultra-miniature 55W HID kits for the ZX14 available in 8k, 6k, and I think 4k. 55W 6,000K rocks. Even 4,000k is cool, if you don't want to look like a blue christmas tree ornament.

Ultra-Mini 55W Plug-And-Play

They claim the kit has OEM connectors and is Plug-N-Play (!!!!!) It clearly has the Ignitor (Starter) and Ballast combined in one very small unit.

No idea what the quality is, unless someone has purchased one already.

This post was really helpful. I decided to order my HID's from DDM Tuning today. After much reading I decided to go with the 35w and not the 55w. Can't wait for the arrival so I too can see the light.

10-29-11

Received my HID kit from DDM Tuning. Was not please the product was shipped direct from China; however, the kit works. FYI, instructions were not included with the kit.

Stock Lights.

In transition.

Completed with HID and PIAA lights for highbeams and marker lights.

Back from the dead!

So I have an extra 55W Kensun (amazon kit) that I ended up with from a warranty deal that just so happens to be H11. Has anyone had any melting/heat issues running 55W vs 35W? I searched through all the forums and have not seen anyone have any problems. I have done many HID conversions on various vehicles but none with a 55W ballast.

What's it like to ride a ZX14? It's like riding a 1000cc bike... but with 400 more cc's.
