Thinking about the 14R
07/27/12 8:56 PM

What up guys
I'm new to this forum, I currently have a 06 ZX-10R that I might be selling to upgrade to the 14R...
Look forward to me being around here a bit more reading and asking questions...
Anyhow a bit about myself, my names Herb 32 in age, I operate SportBike Powder Coating out of South Jersey....
I love bikes and cars, married no kids and a dog....been riding since I was. 7 yrs old...
I do a lot of work for (powder coating) for the members @ www.zx-10r.net so if u feel the need please look me up by the same user name on that board.... All in all I really want the 14 but I gotta sell my 10 1st , I don't drag race but I do ride hard, fast, and long distances are no problem, I just wanna be more comfortable now and the wife wants to come along and we all know the 10 is not for 2up doing more than 10 miles lol......

Hey 06blackpearl,

Your ZX10 is unique and very sharp looking. It looks like it would be a great billboard for your business. What a treat is would be to be able to keep the ZX10 & get the ZX14.

06blackpeark, I am new to the zx14 myself, and I gotta say, you won't be disappointed! I came from riding GSXR's and a Harley, man..I have been missing out. This is my Kawi and its just been blowing me away in all aspects.

I am also considering getting a 2012 ZX14R, but am currrently undecided. I now have a Z1000, but was looking to get something with better windcontrol, as well as having a more comfortable place for the little woman to ride with me.

It would also be quite the thrill to have a *very top of the foodchain* bike, even if you never use the full power it has.

I used to not care for the look of the ZX14R, but its growing on me. It seems to remind me of a torpedo in its shape and jutting forward fairing. The bike is immense in every aspect. Wheelbase, power, pipe diameter, engine displacement, and even overall weight............what a monster!

I am in no hurry, just weighing the options and seeing if my desire for a 14 holds up over some time before making any changes.

I'll pipe up here....I'm single...so riding the wifey is OUT!I don't know if this big sportbike would b a good catch for the TWO of you.For me...it's all that and a bag of chips.I love this thing.Mild mods put it over the top for my riding.Stock?....she's very nice as well. It's a lot of money for a sportbike...it IS big...and kinda heavy with those stock cans. But that can be dealt with.Got mine down to 500 lbs on the nose with a half tank of fuel.So....a few mods...get rid of some of the bulk...yeah...it's a great ride...BUT.....it's STILL a sportbike...NOT a Harley. The ergos COULD get to ya if you were so inclined. It fits me just right....helibars....MRA screen.Throttlemiester.I'm 6'1"...180.I can go all day and not feel beat up or aching. If you can't handle bent knees and such...better get something more 'relaxed'.Also gotta consider maintenence...chains...sprockets....brake pads...stuff like that...TIRES!!!It will run through tires pretty rapidly. If you're not 'into' keeping her top notch...only riding and forgetting about stuff...this bike isn't what you want. It's quite sensitive to parts care.To maintain the factory smoothness and all.The chain itself can be a real issue if you're not into lubing and cleaning it every 500 miles or so...maybe not cleaning at 500...but keeping it well lubed and ADJUSTED...that's VERY important with these 14's.

Yeah, I am into keeping a bike as close to stock as I can, but in the case of the size and apparent weight of the stock mufflers, I can see getting rid of those in favor of something less *log* looking, and also give you a more throaty sound, as well as a potential power increase.

I am also into keeping everything up to snuff and am very meticulous about that.

I went through alot of tires on my Z1000 due to wheelies.I had a black one sharp bike But it was the most uncomfortable bike I ever owned. It vibrated so bad the kickstand fell off.Traded it for a ZRX1200 torque monster. Then got this and never looked back. Most favorite bike so far.Was out doing wheelies today.

It's pretty loud especially as the revs climb. But it only weighs 8 pounds.Lighter then the header on the stock one.
Thanks I really love this bike especially after 7 grand.Just like the Z1000 when it hits 7 grand. But this one is so torquey.

Seems as if I can get one if I decide too.

The kawasaki financing seems to be a go, and the dealer said they can get me a green 2012.

Still undecided, but I am leaning closer and closer to saying *Hell YES* with each passing day.
