Whatever you get, they are more likely to prevent damage in a 0 mph tip over. If the bike is moving and crashes, you might end up totalling the bike because the sliders break the frame. Most common crashes are just tipovers though. I think we're safer without any frame sliders. I keep my LSLs for looks and I paid $250 for them.

Any idea if the situation where the frame breaks because the sliders been installed does this cause insurance problems?

Been using the "shogun" FS's for several years (on other previous bikes as well). Last year on my '13 ZX14R, we stopped and my wife shifted herself (with no warning...) and I was paying attention to the traffic for the turn. It fell on me (and her). Helmet saved her head as she went flying off on the pavement, and the sliders saved the cowling... She refuses to ever ride again on anything... But the First thing I did after delivery of the new '14 ZX14R last week was order another pair.
.
I'm not sure about frame cracking when there is a "fall", etc. That would be an issue of what bends "first" - the slider bolt, or the frame threads when the fall or slide applies the pressure... I would trust the frame thread boss to be more substantial. I don't care if the slider bolt deforms, etc.
.
They don't look "bad", and for the money and their purpose, they are reasonable in price, and when compared to several hundred $'s to repair the cracks, scratches, etc., in particular for a 0-mph drop, cost vs benefit is clearly in favor of installation.
.
Just some thoughts...

From an engineering standpoint, the mounting locations for sliders are not built to take a lateral load placed on it during a fall. These guys aren't talking about a drop from a stand still, although the energy could probably be a couple thousand pounds per sq. in. if the bike just falls right over. From what I've read is, even lower speed slides with frame sliders have caused severe frame damage resulting in the bike being totaled where as otherwise it might've been 3-5k worth of damage. What's the difference to the owner? Well I'm not really sure tbh, except one results in losing the bike and one results in having a repaired bike.

But who knows, most of this is just rider based info, not really anything formally studied afaik.

I've got so much insurance coverage on mine that sliders don't really make sense. I can replace the whole bike for about what a set of sliders costs, and their benefit on this particular bike is questionable, as mentioned above.

I saw my buddy crash in front of me as I watched his bike slide down the road with no chance of slowing down. Went through a fence and into a pond. Pretty sure he could have got by with some body rash, but instead, we went fishing with a log chain.

This is exactly how I feel about this topic as well. Spend the money you save on good gear that will protect yourself, the heck with the bike.

Ordered a set of t-rex sliders for my new addition. Not sure if it was the slide or the hit to back of car that took frame mount out. Wouldn't have mattered any way since damage to front of frame by spedo. But without the front end hit just looks like it woulda been just damage to left bar and some plastics damage. I had some metal anidized frame sliders. As you can see broke off and missing in pic. Not a lot of damage to plastics on that side. Other side that met car is another story.

t-rex sliders I ordered. Got the white letter set
