Gen 1 reflash
08/09/17 12:14 PM

Just wondering if anyone has done a Gen 1 reflash? Have 2007 with exhaust PC3, air filter. Talked with Nels from 2 wheel, he says it makes big difference. Nels is a great guy, thought I would ask some of you if you had done it
And what kind of results?

Thanks

I hope to have Nels reflash my 06 this winter. He said that I would not need to remove my flies which made me happy.
I currently have a Yosh 4 into 1 and a PC3

denn,
My dyno printouts are in the ECU Flash 2 wheel dynoworks sticky at the top of the Performance upgrades page. With some comments and info from me. Very noticeable improvement in rideability and perceived performance both on the road and at the track.

Thanks David, appreciate that. you would say worth it? Above current mods?
Had a fz 09 with pc5, full akro. Had Nels reflash it, it removed speed limiter, worth it just for that
But no real gain in accelerating.
Did you notice gain in pull?

Thanks

Hey denn,
I am not familiar with what the Power Commanders do so I can't speak on how a flash will improve over what it is doing. It is my understanding that the PCs can either learn what your bike needs or you can flash, but not sure how they work together. Plenty of smarter people on here that can clarify that for me. It is hard to compare a flash to a tune because the flash is a tuners best guess as to what your bike needs versus tuning your bike directly. I think Nels has a lot of experience and does both well. The first dyno sheet is what my bike was doing with yoshi slips and Nels flash, then Nels took the time to map and tune an extra 7hp and 7ftlb over and above what his flash. The bike was a lot smoother and felt more powerful with his flash. With his tune it got even better. The second sheet is after I swapped the slips for a full 4-1 Hindle exhaust and did the pair block offs. Nels was able to do more fuel mapping and get another 8hp and 2ftlb.

This is my personal opinion without time sheets to back it up. The bike is better in all areas of the riding envelope. It is smoother, quicker and faster. It instills confidence in a way that enables me to ride better.

And you couldn't beat the grin off my face with a bat after every ride I take.

So there is my opinion. I'm sold.

Dave

PCs can either learn what your bike needs or you can flash, but not sure how they work together.

If you have a PC5 with Wideband2 (or Autotune which is not quite as complex), you can safely change the adjustments that are in the PC5 and these of course, change the fueling in the ECU. It effects the ECU the same wether you have OEM mapping or if the ECU was flashed. Of course, you could use a PC5 ONLY to change either OEM mapping or flashed mapping by guessing at what adjustments you need but Autotune is the safe and precise way to do it.

Good stuff, thanks guys. Either way I will be spending money to take it past this point.
Will wait till spring. Have a great guy in our church who owns a new deiavel (Ducati)
"S", wild looking bike, pretty torquey bike. After much prompting (on his part) we finally twisted
Throttles, the result?... we now both have much respect for the "14" :)
