Need info/advice
05/04/18 11:11 PM

I recently got a 2012 zx14, wanted 1 for awhile and I held out for a clean, low mileage, undogged 1. Brock's full exhaust, gloss black with the optional factory rims. Pretty happy with the bike. Isn't perfect though, left side mid and lower fairings were damaged beyond repair in a garage parking mishap.
Any advice or info on replacement options for fairings? Not sure if I should go with 1 of the many Chinese companies that offer full kits in various different colors and graphics or try to go with oem parts.
Any recommendations on aftermarket fairing offerings/companies?
Thanks

Welcome. Congrats on the bike.

I'd go OEM only. As far as I'm concerned there is no other choice.

If just mid and lower fairing, that's not that bad and OEM parts are available.

Depending on the exact parts, if mid fairing (2 pieces) and lower fairing, probably under $600 without
knowing exact parts. Usually mirror would be scratched and rear tail too?

price it out at http://www.partzilla.com

Don't forget to order the inside heat insulation pads, "Ninja" decal and blinker if needed.
They don't come with the panels.

Thanks alot! I've literally spent at least 15 hours looking up different companies and fairing kits. Havent heard many good things about most complete kits.
I agree, I was leaning towards factory replacement for quality, fitment and color match, kit seems cost effective, quick and cheap way to change colors plus I'd have spares to sell or replace if needed. Won't do much good if the kit pieces melt or fall off though!!
Luckily, damage wasn't bad. Seller said bike had been parked sideways in garage, wife backed into it in the dark. Major damage was to their marriage. No mirror, or frame damage, just the mid fairing, insert and lower, all on left side.
Since the answer is always $, would you recommend carbon fiber fairings? Pros/cons?

Agree. CF is nice but not all varieties are lighter than OEM.
