Cblast
08/31/16 12:46 PM

I've tried calling, texting and messaging on this forum....

Is he still around, still flashing?

Someone pm'ed me on here and said he was but I have been unsuccessful for over a month trying to reach him.

I have texted him and called him on that number at least 6 times in the last month....left voicemails when I called...heard nothing back.

I might jack this thread. I think you are crazy to flash the OEM. I've been swapping out flashed and OEM's back and forth. On the street, the OE seems to outperform the flash, torque for torque. The mirror seems to set the dot farther when stock. I seem to be busier when I windup the OE. That's the bottom end.

Mid range, (65mph) the fender leaves just as fast as the flash. Smoothest overall. If you only knew the situations the other day and then today. Only a bike like this can do that kind of shit bone stock. Call to detune my bike?

You're not missing out on anything.

Not with a safety map still in place and the secondary throttle plates not opened it cant.:) hub impossible. And hub doesnt ride hard enough to know the difference period.

We've had 2 test that basically showed (for performance) CBlast flash = Guhl = OE in terms of acceleration. One set of test were conducted by a 1/4 miler Guhl (flash/PCV) vs Cblast (ECU only) and basically the best times IIRC were with in 4/100ths. Another person ran a set of 3rd and 4th gear pulls Cblast (ECU only) vs. OE and there by average the times where within 1/10th of a second of each other.

So CBlast = Guhl = OE = ??? megaflash in terms of real world performance. If you want some toilet paper, put it on a dyno and get some. I suggest go buy some Charmin or use your hand, but hey whatever.

I'm with Hub on this. If you want a flash, just get one of the utility flashes someone sells for $75 that raises RL 500, opens throttle plates sooner, retain last TRC setting, removes safety maps, etc. Frankly don't think the maps are worth it... not $200-300 anyway. Maybe for Gen 1s, for Get 2, factory fueling and performance are about as good as it's gonna get.

Btw I have a CBlast ECU. I don't know. At this point if I were gonna pay out a few hundred bucks I think I'd try Roman's or Ivan's flashes. Ivan recently started offering the all-in-one no PCV required flash himself.

Flashed, never been on this road, do not use the rear brake ever or I'd go in deeper. Set to off, subs are wired open. The speed/vid is deceiving. Looks slow, don't need to prove anything, could see the guy up ahead as I almost caught up... slowing down the vid at the end. Guys take this ride all the time. It was an invite for me. Don't make me come up to lompoc and use my rear brake on you on your favorite road, you young whippersnapper!

Vic, if you are referring to a gen 2, where did you hear that?

I must be missing something. When was it ever a requirement to have a PCV to flash? I think that's why a lot of people went the rout of flashing instead of using a PCV. then we find out it's better to have a PCV even if you flash but somehow, Ivan is now making it possible to edit his flash without a PCV????

How would you know what to edit it to? Go to the dyno?

I hope I'm totally off base on this. See the patter: buy this, you don't need that---wope--yup you still need that but now you can have this and you won't need that but then you still need that other thing.... when does it end?

I will say I did not hear this directly from Ivan. So I don't know, some makes/models might still require PCV. It was Ivan's choice not to flash the ECU with maps, so I'm sure if he's changed his mind for one model I can't see why it can't affect others. But that's between him and customers.

Well yes technically you could just get the flash from Ivan but it would not include fuel maps. Would be more the utility side. I think how Ivan's setup worked was the flash was around ~300-400, and then basically he would give you his fuel maps to load on a PCV (or you purchased the PCV from him). Then his packages could also include various exhaust too.

I don't know, maybe Ivan will see this thread and offer a comment about his current offerings. I know there's another thread about the '16 models that people commented something about Ivan not offering certain products for some reasons.

Selling the latest thing is always good but all the better if you can continue selling the old tech along with it. Not to mention, the old tech is still necessary if you want the tuning to be perfect.

On that note, I have a base map that is close to perfect. Most adjustments I am making are pretty small. A few are a little more significant in terms of fueling changes. Is it better? Not that I can tell. Not yet anyway. Not comparing base map to custom tune. I will be able to datalog and see if my tune is as perfect as i think it is. I will also be able to log speed. Be interesting to see the diff. Stock v tuned like you did with video.

Some test would be great. It's always amazed me how flashes have escaped the realm of professional reviewers (sites, magazines) at last that I can see or find.

Yesterday, I take a ride to help someone build his replica Z1. It's topped off and F1 was the setting. What a lag at the throttle. I set it to F-off. Felt like a flash. Performed stronger.

Just my guess but professional reviews would be where the advertising bucks are and flashing doesn't have any. All done by very small businesses. Even Woolich must be pretty small.

I'm one who swears by the flash process. I run the CBlast flash. Its extremely potent. I've been using his flash since 2014. He had updated his flash a couple times for me as he added features (launch control) and I changed my bike. Each time I had a specific flash installed to match what I was doing, it has been absolutely flawless. I've had my bike on 3 different dynos (2 for tuning verifications and 1 for a dyno competition in which I did win). Each time it proved to be what I was expecting. Big HP and Tq gains. As she sits now, 204 HP 119 ft-lb. I know everyone says dynos aren't everything. But this is backed up on the track as well as in the streets. In my area I have yet to find anyone who can be me and my bike (naturally asperated). Seriously.
