not sure what info you want bud. all i can tell you is that it is a TOTALLY DIFFERENT BIKE! and seriously, my buddies on the smaller ninjas have been really impressed.
the next thing i want to do, but its spendy, is a stearing damper. then i can lower the front end. (this will effectivly decrease the wheelbase and rake, giving me a bit more turn in.) i could lower it w/o teh damper, but thats not recommended by the guys i have been talking to about it.
now, i am a 250 pound rider and have, i think, the max spring rate availible... (im going to find out for sure what he ordered) i have also been told by some guys that i might consider putting in a lesser weight rear spring, but i carry passengers too much to think about this.
springs are about $100, oil, $7 x 3 bottles, seals were $30 i think. rebuild took about 2 hours for the first one, and 45 minutes for the second, and 1.75 beers. (funny how that happens) my buddy had all the tools though, so if you don't have these, i would strongly consider NOT taking this on yourself. billing on these is (about) 1 hour per side X your local shops rate IF you remove the forks yourself and take them in. more if you take in a whole bike.

Thanks Rally-what brand of springs are they? And was it an actual "kit",or just the springs?.Can you elaborate a bit more on "totally different bike"?I don't want anything that's going to jar the frontend all the time.....smooth is what I like on mine.

i'm bubba btw....
the Race Tech springs came with springs, a load of spacers and stickers. i think i used two spacers to bring the spring height up, but i don't know if it was really needed.
the shorter spring is the new one. you can tell from this pic(or i can) that the new one is thicker. it also has a few more windings then the stock one but is shorter by almost a half inch. compressing the new ones to put it back together took some doing, but then, if your going to such a heavy spring, your prolly heavy enough to make it work. LOL
this is my bike without forks. it was a sad sight indeed. this is to prepare you for what you might have to look at if you decide to take this on yourself. i almost cried.

Wilbers is a German company that hand makes suspension parts for Bikes. I used them because my brother used their shocks on his former bikes and given they are competetive re pricing I went with them ..
http://www.motorcycle-suspension.com/wilbers_shock_absorber/type_643_qmv/index.html
I should have orderred them straight from Germany as my brother did ..but went through a US company instead and it has taken much longer to get the parts
http://www.beemershop.com/
They make a shock specifically for the ZX14..and you can have it as delux as you want it to be. I do have to say that the sales people at least in the Beemer Shop were very knowledgeable and helpful ..and will snow you with info, but ..alas no shocks form many many weeks ..Hoping to get them and my new front springs soon!!

cool just got my shock and springs ..now onward..more parts to buy more things to do.
Have a set of ceramic bearings to go in, have a Brock's full system and ..gunnah order the mid range velocity stacks. On the flip side of performance ..I orderred a set of Givi PLX 35 hard bags (with extra light kits) and a top bag - the 52 leter size.
Modified my stock seat rather than going for a Sargent cuzz the Sargent really did not work for me ..
Gotta order a hugger and a taller windshield for touring...etc etc ....AND re paint the bike a ccoooooooooool scheme of some kind ..
fun times.
I am doing all of this cuzz I sold another bike someone in the family GAVE to me ..so its all bonus coin ..

After a trip to the North Georgia mountains I definitely need some heavier front springs as well as a rear spring. I'm not trying to be "Rickey Racer" but I think the bike would be much more enjoyable to ride in the twisties and much safer.
So, I'm looking at the Racetech springs. Anyone got an opinion? An alternative option maybe?
From the first time I saw the 14 I thought the front end looked low, like it was strapped down for drag racing. Yeah, I know that's a popular place for them but they can do the twist too! And damn well I might add for a big girl!

in my experience, mind you, i am a 250+ pound rider... the rear is sprung just fine. the pre-load, which is a total pain in the ass to adjust, was WAY off. the rebound was also almost null. so simply adjusting your rear shock for appropriate sag levels and stuff will probably do just fine for most riders.
i have racetech springs in the front. i added two spacers which basically meant i was staring with preload, since i knew i was going to be heavy on even the new springs.
the other thing i would highly recommend, and i did this the second day i owned mine, is take your bike to a local track day event and ask the suspension tech to set you up for a street application. this might cost anywhere from $20-40 depending on the tech. it would take them about 10-20 minutes and makes a WORLD of difference even with perfectly stock suspension. if you have never had your suspension set up... DO IT!
seriously, DO IT!!!!
and ask him to please set up your rear too... its totally worth it to pay them to do that, since you can't fit a spanner in there anyway. LOL

having the suspension set up for your weight and riding style makes a WORLD of difference! I would like to eventually upgrade the front end too.
