Hotrodnut,
My 180/55 experience was also on the R1. With the 190/50 fitted, it never felt comfortable leaning over, like the front was happy but the back wanted to stand up as the center of gravity was not inline with the contact patch. changing the rear to a 180/55 seems to stop the rear trying to stand up and it feels more balanced. Now I can tip into the corner and it doesn't need to be held down, it will stay at that lean angle as long as required. The 190/55 on the ZX14 seems to have a similar effect, but I always need min 40psi otherwise it becomes barge-like again. Not sure if it just the weight difference or if the profile is not quite right. My next tyre will be the 180/55 in a few months. I'll update then...

I keep teh stock size on the front but I prefer to raise the profile at the rear from 50 to 55. atm I have a 190/55 instead of a 190/50. I think my next tyre will be a 180/55. The higher prfile hides the weight of the bike nicely and keeps it balanced mid turn. I've been doing that on a few bikes for the last few years with great results.

The stock 014' in the UK were quite poor, front felt vague, never let go, but probably only because I backed off when it felt horrible and rears lasted less about 1,500 miles.
Put on some Qualifier RR's - MUCH better, rear now about finished at 2500 which is pretty good for essentially a track tyre, felt much gripper too and even performed OK in the wet.
Dunlops Roadsmarts are nw sat in the garage ready for the summer, over here they got rave reviews for being even better than PR2's in both dry and wet, should last OK too, hoping for 4,000 - 5000 from a rear - triple the OE life!

Just finished off a set of BT021's and they lasted about 5k miles. That's pretty good for the rear but the front was shot also. Seemed like the front should have lasted longer like the stock 014s but if that means it was sticking better then thats good. All tires feel crappy when they are worn out and new ones feel like the best ever when new so its hard to judge that way. Now gonna try Roadsmarts price is similar to Bridgestones so we shall see. I've got a feeling that the tires are all pretty similar and everyone has their preference. For me I like to hit the curves so I want some sticktion. The rear with this much torque to play with they just don't last longer than 5k miles from what I can see.
