14R owners can rest easy for another year

...in fact, I don't believe there will ever be a Gen3 busa since it hasn't happened after 10 years. Great bike but Suzuki might as well get out of bike altogether if you ask my

The coup de grace would be Kaw making the next 14 but they have no reason to do that. I'm sure the tired old busa will sell a lot of 14Rs for Kawaswaki.

Honda isn't any better at least as sport bikes go.

I think I'd just look for a good deal on a used S1000rr or ZX-10 and call it a day for the next ten years. Modify what you have and you'll be light years ahead of what they make at the factory.

The used bike market seems to be the way to go now. There are a few used S1000RR's by me with under 10K miles for under $10K

New bikes have become too expensive in my opinion and that maybe why Zuki and the Busa have not been revised. If they revise it with a big capital investment how will they ever recoup it? Look at the new KHI H2 SC or whatever its called. I was just reading the review on Revzilla Common Tread and the SE is ~$24K - WTF. Honestly, how many people are going to buy a Kawi that $24K? Probably not many. I know the electronics have helped increase the price but its turning me off. Maybe Kawi thinks they can get market share from BMW sport touring guys but i dont think so. Who wants to have to clean and lube the chain on their sport tourer every 400 miles? Not the BMW crowd.

Ah well, I guess I will just sit back and watch like I've been doing the last ten years. Buying a used bike is almost as exciting as buying a new one. I can't see spending more than $15,000 on a new bike unless it really is something different. The H2 would be the only bike I'd buy new but for what it costs, it makes more sense to turbo a an old 14 if you don't mind all the work.

The time of the hypersport machine has sadly come and gone methinks, in an era where literbikes routinely make near WSBK levels of horsepower, they have become increasingly irrelevant and no longer the proud flagships of their respective lines.
When the mighty Gen 1 Hayabusa first arrived on our shores in 1999, it was the King of Big Speed, literbikes of the day were lighter and handled better but were hopelessly outclassed by the mammoth power(for it's day)and slippery aerodynamics of the 'Busa. This ushered in a golden age of back and forth one-upmanship between Suzuki and Kawasaki that created the stellar ZX-14R and current generation Hayabusa that we have today. Alas, the shocking performance of these behemoths proved to be their very undoing, galvanizing the Japanese Big Four into signing the infamous gentleman's agreement to limit their top speed to a mere 300 kph, (187 mph) thus killing off the nuclear arms race in it's infancy. With a lack of continued development in the hypersports arena, literbikes soon caught up and in some cases, surpassed the hypersports in outright power and along with their light weight, agile handling and advanced electronic suites, soon relegated these once dominant machines to the dust bin of history..... but not quite. There is one area of performance the hypersports still dominate and that is long distance, high speed travel in relative comfort. I've seen 300 miles of highway at a stretch on my trusty ZX-14 without breaking a sweat whilst cruising at speeds of 120-130 mph whereas my literbikes would have me looking for a rest stop (or gas station) after about 50 miles, wrists, shoulders, neck and lower back screaming for relief. So while I don't see the Hayabusa and ZX-14R changing much in the future, my guess is that they will soldier on for quite a few more years in production.

If you stick with a factory bike and don't mind winding it up to to the top of midrange, yes but the busa and the 14 have always been and are still the platforms for LSR and drag racing. I don't see any good replacement for stable high speed and potential for big power adders. That's what these bikes were made for and still do better than any others.
