Different mirrors?

Has anyone tried different mirrors on their bike? Mine seem to be just floppy to say the least. You can position where you want, snug them down but the second anything bumps it; it all comes loose again. I really liked the mirrors on 2004 R1 but I'm having trouble finding dimensions. The R1 mirrors would and lock into place and then you could unfold them to snap back on place.

What's it like to ride a ZX14? It's like riding a 1000cc bike... but with 400 more cc's.

bought a set of these a while ago but had to do some mods to them. They are rock solid, as banging my forehead into them can attest, but the mirror was a little too convex for me. I did have another cheap set of bar ends that ended up being a swap for the glass.

I also had to drill out the hole to accommodate the larger bolt of the stock bar ends. It took away the top mount option but I don't mind the end mount at all.

Can you elaborate further on "You can position where you want, snug them down but the second anything bumps it; it all comes loose again."? Pretty sure the 06 & 08 have the same mirrors, never had any issues with mine going loose and the only part I can think of which I could tighten them at are the acorn nuts that hold the whole mirror assembly in place. If those are what are coming loose and you like the function & look of the mirrors you have, just replace the nuts (they are a nylon locking nut) or use locktite.

I think he was talking about other aftermarket mirrors and not the factory ones.

Sorry guys, I sent the message last night from my phone. I can elaborate a little more now that I am on a PC. The mirrors currently on my ZX (appear OEM) will tighten via the screw circled in red via the picture below. Once tight, they will stay put. The other day, I accidentally bumped it with my rear and it fold and was completely loose again. I had to retighten the nut circled in red and it stays put.

The R1 mirrors attach via the two bolts. The only adjust they have is the mirror itself articulates but the arm is either open or closed.

Ah yes, someone liked folding them back and they must have gotten loose. I'd just get a new set of OEMs or go with mirror caps and a bar end mirror(s). The bar end mirrors I have used do not have bar ends attached like Cuff's pic. The mirrors come with a bar end adapter which replaces the bar end weight. The ones that have a ram ball joint for adjusting are best. They are very cheap on Ebay. I bought a set of two CRG bar end mirrors for $180 and they are just a tiny bit stiffer in the folding joint than the $16 cheapies. The glass is identicle. CRG is a hair more neatly constructed. I highly recommend the cheapies. You can still use bar ends if you want but you will probably need a longer screw unless you have grips that are a bit shorter like I do.

If you like OEM, First I'd try taking that bolt out and using blue lockTite. Also maybe throw a couple nylon washers in there to tighten things up.

Maybe try thin neoprene washers.
