I'm making my first trip to the Ridge Motorsport Park for the OPRT class on Monday, May 22. Is anyone else here on the forums going to be there?

Wow BerndV,
All the way from Montana for a track day? Or have you relocated to the ever beautiful PNW? Not sayin MT ain't just as beautiful. The Ridge is an awesome track, did 2 track days there last year and will be there for the 2 day event June 30/July 1.
Trailboss might be there, he is part of the OPRT team. Lots of great people who are very helpful with instruction or suspension setup and adjustment.
If I could get Monday off I would ride down just to watch, weather supposed to be good.
Enjoy!

No, I haven't moved to the PNW. I am attending the Concours Owners Group rally this weekend in Kamiah, ID, so I figured I would combine that trip with a track day at the Ridge. I'm just going to trailer my 14R to the rally, ride with everyone over the weekend, and then head over to the track on Sunday afternoon.

Nice weekend plan.
When you get to the Ridge Sunday ask around or keep your ear out after dinner. There are always a couple riders familiar with the track who like to take a nice evening walk and are a wealth of information about landmarks and stuff to look for to set up for corners. Made a huge difference for me on my first day there. 2.5 miles so put a beer in your pocket for the walk. Bring gas too. I went through a full tank plus a little.
Enjoy!

Hey man, glad you can make it out! Are you attending the L1 or L2 class?
I'll be out there, and most certainly y on Harambike as opposed to my dedicated track machine. Come find me and I'll tow you around for a bit. The bike (and I) will be in full touring mode most likely.

Hey BerndV, it was great meeting you and talking bikes for a bit. That red 14R is gorgeous!
How did you like the trackday?

I had an absolute blast. I'm planning on returning to the Ridge again this summer. BTW, I was running Bridgestone S21's and I thought they were excellent for a street tire. I'll probably upgrade the front brakes prior to the next time out. The fading towards the end of a session got pretty bad. Any suggestions?

It is my understanding that brake fading is most often caused by the pads and water in the lines. I would still definitely recommend SS lines as I feel they provide better feedback and a MUCH firmer feel to the levers but simply changing the brake fluid might net you the best result for the lowest time & cost.

I completely flushed and changed all the brake and clutch fluid with Pentosin Super DOT 4 fluid one month ago. I think the fading is simply due to the pads and rotors not quite being up to the task of repeatedly hauling the weight of this bike withh a 200 lb rider down from racetrack speeds. SS lines will help with feel but not fading. I'm going to try the EBC race only pads on my next visit to the Ridge. I am also going to install SS lines.
