14r Sprocket Change Studder....Resolved!
04/17/17 2:46 PM

Went from 17 teeth to 16 front sprocket...left rear stock at 42 teeth. Immediately had STUDDER...which means is seems like the engine is missing....bucking a bit up to 35-40 mph...after that it is a monster.

So, Don Guhl in Pa has the computer fix for this issue, and is the only man to figure out how to reprogram the ECU to make it work smoothly and properly removing the STUDDER. For those of you who have done a sprocket change....you will have to feather your clutch continuously at low speeds in traffic to manage forward movement...a real pain in the butt.

So anyone changing sprockets, give Don a call and he will tweak it for you and you can enjoy lots quicker acceleration and throttle response.

Seriously? This is enough to make me go out and buy another 14R. My last bike had Ivan's, which was great. Will I notice a difference between the two on the street? Ivan's was pretty damn smooth and a rocket from 3K on up, even with stock gearing.

I also had immediate stutter after 16 tooth front with stock 42 tooth resr. Then I installed 44 tooth rear and no stutter.....16 tooth remained on front.

Master of the unnecessary. If it doesn't need to be modified, then I have done it.

2014 zx14R, 2 wheel Dyno flash, Yosh carbon slip ons, home brew bar end throttle lock, 16/44 gearing with no studder, dual mode stock then air horn, double bubble, full LED headlight, Pilot 4's
