Just got my ZX14
03/18/13 7:46 AM

Hi Everyone!

I just got my new 2010 zx14 lastweek. Unfortunately there is still snow and the temperature is not co operating here in Markham, Ontario. It didn't stop me from a short blast on Friday in 0 deg. weather. I am in love with this bike and hope to learn alot from being on the site. Here is a pic of my bike taken lastnight after cleaning. Only mods so far are Scorpion Titanium slip ons, fender eliminator and black fairing bolts. I ordered a set of red ASV levers saturday and hope to replace the windscreen shortly.

I was thinking of getting a 2011 in the black, but once I saw the 2010 Red in person I just had to have it.
The colour is absolutely stunning and I couldn't agree with you more...

It had 31kms on it when I got it.
Brand new bike.... lol
Now it's sitting at 50.
Your black looks super clean also - It was a tough call to make on the colour though as black does look very nice when looked after like yours.

Welcome, I live in Markham as well. I will keep an eye out for a red 14, nice bike by the way.

On another not totally unrelated note, who do you use for insurance? I need to find another company for the 14, my current provider won't cover it.

Hey,

We should hook up for a ride sometime. I usually go out after 8.00 during the week as I have to put my kids to bed, and I usually make it down to Lakeshore and Leslie on Thursday nights to check out the other bikes, and grab a coffee. I am using Statefarm at the moment for my coverage. I wish I had other options open to me, but alas, I don't. Problem with them is that if you have your car or truck with them they will give you a sweet rate for the bike.., but their auto rates are crazy high, so in the end I just left my car where it was and went a standalone policy for the bike. Full coverage is costing me... $2k for the year.

Anyways - email me for a ride if you like - I was out yesterday even for a short spin...
My name is Matt

Ya that's what they quoted me, I haven't looked into the cost if I bring the car/house/other bikes over as well.
Thanks for the invite Mat, but I don't pick mine up for a week or so, but once I do I would be good to go.
Did you get yours at a dealer or was it a private sale?

I got mine from a dealer in Milton. What year did you get? Brand new? Colour?
Would be cool to have a couple of 14's cruising around together. You are going to absolutely love this bike. I move from bike to bike to bike., but honestly, I think I'm staying put for a long long time on this machine. And quite frankly, the only thing I would replace it with would be the new 14 with more hp.
Regarding Statefarm - If I brought my car over the bike was dropping to 1200.00, but they were charging more than 800.00 more just for the car anyways over what I was currently paying... so no savings at all in the end - just a wash. I was looking at 1388 full coverage on a 600cc super sport so I figured for 600.00 more.... meh, not much of a decision to make. lol

Black, 07 set up more for touring, givi racks,Connie seat, risers, windshield, center stand, HID's heated grips and cruise. I only sat on it once, that's all it took. High km's 100k or so, if I remember correctly. Bought it from a buddy I work with as motorcycle instructors at centennial college. He is getting married and wanted to move to a vfr and save some cash as he is buying a house. I got the bike for 500 bucks less than the dealer offered on a trade in, or less than it would cost me to insure it for two years.

I'm thinking of riding out to nfld, taking a quick dip in the Atlantic and then ride back, maybe just after may 24. You know, start the summer off right.

Wow, you got that thing for a great price. With this big engine I can't see the kms being that big of an issue. As long as he did all the other maintenance regularly you should get many good years out of it. I'm keen to see how your HID's work. That is something I would consider doing down the line for sure. We can compare how bright it is now, compared to mine.

That ride you have planned sounds amazing.. unfortunately with two little kids getting away for a trip like that is hard for me. I was trying to get to Deals Gap this year, but the wife kyboshed that already... maybe next year once my youngest is a little easier to manage solo.

@Omega,
I wish my wife was as understanding as yours.. lol
Once my youngest gets a little older though, it will be easier for me to do little trips like that I think.
For now the most I can get away with is an overnight every now and then.
Enjoy the gap!

The Wife thing...We are coming up on 11 years. Two kids, she lets me out once in a while, but really gentlemen the greatest marvel has been the 7 bikes I've owned. Each one was laiden with strife, struggle and the silent treatment. These days, all I need to get out though is advanced warning.
Got say boys, the red looks AMAZING!!!
