A recommendation on replacement brake lines for Gen 1. I have 1.25" risers installed.

TIA

I would definitely recommend Spiegler Brake lines, they're DOT approved and I've been running them for several years now and they still look and work like brand new.

If you are looking to replace them because the stock lines are too short with the risers instead of performance/feedback reasons, you may want try rerouting the stock lines a bit first to see if you can get the stock lines to work. I had the helibar risers and there seemed to be still a bit of extra line still so you might be okay.

If you don't want a full kit and need longer lines, you can order custom length/fittings/color lines from them as well, when I did that I simply emailed them with my motorcycle info and which lines I wanted. They sent me back the specs for the SS replacement lines and I simply added a couple of extra inches for my application, the process was actually really easy and worked perfectly.

No... I don't work for them, don't get anything from them, just been happy with the 4 sets of lines I've bought from them (rear, front, clutch, longer front).

I've tried Galfer, Spiegler and all kevlar Goodridge lines. They all work the same IMHO. I doubt most of us will notice one iota of dif compared to newer stock lines unless we might be a skilled track rider. Spiegler has a nice feature that enables you to adjust the angle of the ring coupling. I heard once you can do that with any aftermarket line but I would be apprehensive to try it without the manufacturer suggesting it. The Goodridge kevlar lines I have are extremely lightweight and that's why I like them. Goodridge was also a couple inches longer than necessary which didn't hurt even though my bars are at stock heighht. The Galfers are just fine but the orange color looks a bit faded compared to the bright orange of Spiegler. Galfer yellow on my busa is nice and bright however.

I'd go with Spiegler and custom order the length as Nightmare suggested.

You might want to check out Core.

Thanks guys. Might be my imagination, but the brakes seem "irregular" in that the lever travel varies. I get a firm braking but variable "feel". Thought it could be the old lines although I have not yet done a fluid replacement. Figure I'll wait till new lines are ready to tackle the flush/burp.

Might as well. I think it's best to leave those bleeders closed unless you need to open them. I believe mine usually leak a tiny bit of fluid after I torque them. They have always sealed back up eventually. Just keep an eye on them and wipe any wetness away from the bleeders or it will eat the paint. Don't overtorque them. Those are small threads. Maybe just a tick more if needed.
