Anyone lower the foot pegs on their 2012 ZX-14R?
08/03/12 1:29 PM

Hello,

My 2006 zx14 is DEFINITELY more comfortable than any of the 600-1000c sportbikes I've owned.

I sat on a 2012 ZX14R, and found the sitting position to be a bit more sporty than my 2006. A little more forward lean, and higher foot pegs (fairly noticeable).

Has anyone replaced the stock foot pegs on their 2012? If so, did you replace the rearsets, use a foot peg lowering kit, etc?

It's nothing critical, or would stop me from purchasing a ZX14R, but I’m just curious...

THANKS!

I have the black buell pegs, and a set of knight design 1" drop pegs. The knights give better foot orientation, like stock. The buell's make your toes point inward a bit, like your pidgeon toed. Im not sure which I like more, the wider buell's have some benefit, and might be a slightly lower drop. Have to ride some longer distances with the knight's to say which I like better.

didn't swap rearsets due to cost. both peg options change the orientation of the shifter and brake, and ideally will need some adjustment. Usually just unbolting them and rotating them down 1 "notch", but I haven't done that yet either. For hard riding, it would def help, but its rideable w/o.

Thats wierd I've had 3 gen 1 14s and thought the R was more comfortable. Motorcycle Larrys got some great lowering pegs though.

I bought a set of these, I will post up once I get them installed. Shipping overseas sucks.

I bought Knights QuadTrax, but I would buy the SideTrax tread on 2nd go-round.

I modified a set of buell pegs at one time for my 2006. They worked great, but I was never really happy with them. I thought they were perfect for racing & with an airshifter. The pegs provided extra legroom, but the alignment of the brake and shifter never seemed to feel natural. This is the reason I was looking for something adjustable this time around. Once I get them installed, I will touch base and let you know what I think about these.

I put on rearsets but think the foot position stayed the same. They are about 3/4 inch shorter that the factory foot rests but have super traction, all in all I am happy with them.

For Goodness sake, POWDERCOAT those monsters!!! lol

Actually, any chance you have your stock shift lever & brake lever? I will be getting mine powder coated to match the rest of the bike. I did this on my 2006 and zx12...it really gave the bike a clean/finished look. I have no idea what type of 'black' will be on my new foot pegs, so I will be dropping all the bare aluminum parts off in Dubai...hoping for a quick turn around.

I totally agree with you, Seno. I will keep anything and everything that comes off of this bike. WHen I sell, it will be bone stock..to include putting the mudflap back on.
