I am in contact with a company which makes tall windshields from polycarbonate for bikes. They are good, they coat the polycarbonate to protect it from oxidation, and use state of the art thermo-forming.

I'm going to get one if they will make it for the ZX14, but if more than 1 of us wanted one, it might sweeten the pot for them and provide motivation.

For me, it makes sense, because I'm setting pretty upright now, and the Zero Gravity ST screen doesn't do it for me. I put a Vario VTA-1 on it, but have yet to really test it out. I'd much rather have a one-piece solution that just bolts on like a stock screen.

I think it would really come down to looks. The ZGST already looks goofy.

What's a price? I may be up for being a test mule. I've always got my puig to put back on if i don't like it

What looks goofy to one, looks great to another who does 1,000 miles in a day, twice in one week.

I understand that. And don't take it the wrong way, i'll probably be buying a ST screen. I just don't like the way they look

JMO, but the tall screens on this bike look horrible and only because of that I will never purchase one. I don't think there is anything you can do about it from a looks standpoint. It's just to narrow to be making it very tall. I think there's a point where a person is just expecting to much from this bike. I put a ton of miles on aswell I just can't make that sacrifice so I deal with it. I don't even run a ST screen! The stream of air is usually right into my helmet so guess where every darn bug goes and drives me nutz. Yet, I can't accept a screen that's taller than it is wide on a sportbike. Just goes against every thing I hold sacred. :) but that's just me...

I've just fitted the Givi touring screen on mine, haven't made up my mind yet whether It's much different to the stock screen, if I duck down it's really quiet, but sitting in my regular riding position actually seems noisier. If you can recommend a quiet screen I think I'd fit it regardless of what it looked like (assuming it didn't look ridiculous of course)

they've got those air foils you can attach to the top lip of your screen too which are supposed to flow the air better. I think they call them laminar something or other. You could try that as well. But it involves drilling holes ...

Thanks Edge, just visited the Laminar web site and did a bit of research I think I might give one a try, nothing ventured nothing gained. And I guess the good thing about playing with screens is they're quick & easy to change so I might develop a collection and change over depending on what style riding I'll be doing.

I'm looking for some sort of touring windshield myself. The best thing I see so far, (of course I haven't tried any of them), is the Laminar Lip. But I'm still open to suggestions. Privateer, I'm listening...

I got back from Denver about midnight last night, this is the first time in a week I've had time to read posts on this forum.

I like the Zero Gravity Sport Touring shield well enough. Its pretty solid and I took the laminar lip off because it creates vortexes and they grab your helmet and jerk it around. The ST by itself doesn't do that.

So far, even Rifle has turned me down on a custom windshield, probably only because they doubt they could sell enough to make it worthwhile. Vacuum molding polycarbonite in those kinds of shapes is not easy.

The most likely source could actually turn out to be Zero Gravity. They could just tweak their mold for the ST to get 2" more height with little expense and it would mold just as easily as the ST.

Until then, I am running a ZG ST with a Vario VTA-1 extension spoiler. I'll have to adjust the position based on riding it and seeing at what setting it works best.

Drilling mounting holes in the ST was a pain, I did it when the temperature was in the 20s and my holes chipped a little. If I do it again, I'll make sure the ST is quite warm, and drill halfway from one side and then halfway from the other, with a very small bit, and then do the same with the correct size bit. At least I'll have a good template (the old ST) to mark the hole locations.

But its good enough to ride this season with and find out how the Vario works.
