Is the new vo/reg = chinese made and bought from ebay, but nothing mentioned having a new vo/reg thrown at it and still a problem

yep its new, more than likely its a chinese reg/req but ill have to ask..

Did you ever asked customer if he installed a chinese reg/reg? That should've been your first clue.

it ain't my money .. I told him to get O.E.M. but he aint made of money so he bought what he could afford.

They are listed used on Ebay (O.E.M.) for $20/40 dollars.

Yep it's aftermarket... problem w buying used is it could be bad too... then ya gotta figure out if it's the used reg or a different problem.... lol just played that game w brand new stuff. He's gonna ride it a couple days n see what happens..

Lol well it's back.. worked fine for two days.. he lost his headlights so he brought it by. Pulled up n shut it off n it acted like starter was still engaged for a few cranks then quiet.. holy stink though.. tore plastics off looking for smoking wires etc.. all good nothing burned.. battery was complete trash though (load test at like 2v) .. got a new battery n very hard to crank over... Double checked everything 3x .. all looked good... Pulled starter today n found armature smoked big time.. explains why it acted like a welder a few times trying to hook up negative side... New OEM starter is $500... Found some used ones for $50 on eBay w 30 day money back.. see what customer says.. wish I could post a pic...
So question is why did armature fail ?

All I can think of is magnetism in a resistance and it would take the freewheeler starter gear, drag it down in the opposite direction so as to slow down the engine via the starter gear.

Edit:

You could start it, no power down to the motor after the engine runs, remove the cable off the starter motor... I can't see how the starter would drag if the engine is running, the sprag is freewheeling, meaning, no motor is turning, nor is the sprag gear, but the sprag arms are collapsed in sort of speak... got me?

Ok got in used starter n relay.. all hooked up n bike fires right up... Back to no rev problem .. plus I was hearing a loud whine noise.. started searching for the noise n I could hear the relay going to town... Then it clicked what I was hearing... The starter/starter clutch whirring away... No no no.. that's how the other starter burned up.... thankfully only ran it a minute or so...

Got my popcorn out, dont leave us hanging!

Lol ok.. so came out n swapped starter relay back out with old just to see... Left stator unplugged to see if rev problem would go away like last time...
Start it up, revs clean, plug stator back in n hear starter engage.. unplug n starter is quiet..
Off to look at schematics.. stupid electrical problem

Git new relay box in .. fired right up.. no extra noises... Charging at 14v...

sounds like it's fixed!

Well fuck , that didn't last long.... Just got news it's back to square one... Supposedly same exact problem.

still kind of sounds like that stator may be working but also has some sort of internal short circuit that is silently killing thing. Who knows at this point. Way too crazy to diagnose over the internet.
