Durango, CO trip...
05/10/18 2:32 PM

Fired up...T minus about 27 days (but who is counting) before I leave for a 12 day trip from San Diego to Durango, CO. Plan is to buzz to Phoenix after working a (looooooooooong) half-day on June 7th. Then Phoenix to Durango on Friday June 8th. Check into cabin on a nearby lake June 9th, hang out, fish, day trips until the following Thursday, the 14th. That day will take me from Durango to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, then off to Laughlin for a night or two, depending on how the gambling gods treat me, and back home to San Diego. Hope to have some pictures to put up when I get back!

Sounds like a fun trip. Remember to perform a ritual for the god of speed too.

Yeah...I did pick out the "arrest me!" red color for the bike! Although, I did manage to catch the eye of the law on my 2006 blue one as well....

That's a fine trophy. I would be crapping myself. Good sense of humor.

The way I look at it, the occasional ticket is just the cost of the hobby, no different than tires, brake pads etc. It sucks when you see those lights, it sucks writing that check, but you just have to focus on all those other times when you were giggling inside your helmet, enjoying the power and handling of this beast, and getting away with it all!

I worry most about the possible insurance hike. It's so easy to go 35+ over the limit. For most of the stuff I do, 70 mph is good but I can hit 100~120 in some corners. Straightline speed, you just have to pick and choose there because it's going way over a hundred.

Tim

Post pics when done please.

I'm about to head out, too, but much shorter trip: Headed to Dragon again next weekend for 3 days ... 5 day total trip: we waste a day just from FL to NC, then a day back.

Have fun!
